@@ibnuzack4498, great observation. Their babies get separated from the moms for about two weeks of fence weaning. During this time they can still see each other, just not drink mom’s milk.

@ , no problem. Neither Asia’s nor my feelings are hurt 😉. I thank you for the question. For many animals, the only way to tell is by seeing what type of equipment they have (private parts). A boy (bull or steer) will have some extra fur on the bottom of their belly and a girl (cow or heifer) won’t. One of the reasons I share my cattle checks and experiences is for people to learn more about the animals. Another reason is for people that don’t have the opportunity to be on a farm, or in the woods to feel like they are a part of it. I want everyone to feel comfortable asking any questions or comments. I’ll do my best to answer in a timely manner. People that have never been on a farm or around these animals won’t know what others do. I hope this helps explain for not only you, but future viewers as well. I will be learning as we go too.

No ma’am, in the longer video you can see the calf getting milk from Momma. We don’t wean the calves until as late as possible when the Mom is pregnant and needs all of her energy to grow her next baby calf.
