No way u can do this with kids. Don't neglect them. I grew up with a too busy mother and she was at home. Thay was bad enough. Kids need attention .

I have a financial advisor but how do you find mentors?

Our experience with Ryan Homes was absolutely horrible. While the sales process was quite good and the sales person was awesome, that's where the "good" ended. The project manager was demanding and unfriendly. I told him on day one, I would be visiting at least 3 times every week and if he couldn't handle that, then we can cancel right now. This was the third house I have built from the ground up. Now granted the first two were in a different State, and I was the expediter of my second home with guidance from the general contractor, who was a friend. So I knew the process and what to look for. I pointed out a multitude of mistakes all along the way. The project manager told me I was coming too frequently, that was when I informed him that the roof over the front entry was at least 18" too short. He argued with me about that. I told him to get out the blueprints. He said, oh I don't have those with me. Oh, no problem, I have a set of prints. Then he demanded how I had gotten a copy as they don't usually give those to the home buyer. Well, one of your subs threw them in the trash, I found them there. Now he was red faced. Sure enough I was correct and they had to remove that part of the structure and rebuild it. Studs that were too short and with only one nail through the bottom plate with a one inch gap. Ceramic tile laid so poorly and they refused to correct it. After we moved it, I kept submitting work orders. These tiles were so out of level you could stub you toe on them. They ended removing over 650sq ft of tile from the great room and replacing it, causing a huge mess of dust throughout the house. It took many weeks to finally find most of the dust created. They painted the exterior the wrong color and had to repaint it. Drywall so poorly installed that some had to be removed and reinstalled. A window was installed and had to be removed, concrete block cut to center a window in the bathroom. And on and on it went for months. The project manager was unfriendly, unhelpful, and generally out of his league, he should have been fired. The A/C unit is so bottom of the barrel we've had to have the evaporator coil replaced twice in 5 years, while parts are covered, labor is not. Dishwasher failed, disposal failed, again in less than 5 years. Nice looking home, not so great construction, very poor project management and Ryan warranty is the least they can do to get by. Lot's lies were told about the community about access and amenities, all lies and everyone heard a different lie. I would never recommend Ryan to anyone. The theme in this community is: If you buy a Ryan, you'll be a cryin'
