As a retired airline dispatcher, I used to start checking the weather first thing in the morning, even though I didn't start my shift till 1500. One day I had a spiritual weather awakening, and realized the wx was going to be whatever it was when I got there. Nirvana! 😉

@CapturingCornwall I think the whole point of this trend is to "joke" with things you actually do. Honestly as an air traffic controller the last 5 years I've checked flight radar once just to see the callsign of a friend's flight 🤣 Maybe it's a thing in that tower to check it daily. Who knows 😅

The controller talks to the pilots and the assistant doesn't. The assistant makes and receives phone calls to/from other sectors, airfields or centres passing info at the request of the controller

@zacktener862 no. The assistant would call to the supervisor who is most likely a controller as well, to come and take over temporarily, whilst a replacement arrived
