Been to both fairs too!, John's fair at Glenbrook was great & bought a few good gems but I was a bit disappointed with Glebe fair cos so much stuff that I wanted to get was so insanely expensive!!, AC/DC,Easybeats & other Australian artists, I only bought just a few gems that were reissues including an Easybeats album at a reasonable price but the original 1's were just too overpriced & not in best condition & didn't bother with them, 1 rare item I got for $60 was the 6 cassette tape version of The Beatles Box from Glebe fair.

@beatlefancraig672 ай бұрын
@peterx1957 I think it's because now they are becoming more expensive & collectable cos Bon Scott & Malcolm Young have passed away, also with Easybeats losing Stevie Wright,George Young & now Dick Diamonde, The Beatles with only 2 left & The Monkees with only 1 left, most albums by these famous popular band are so crazily expensive cos their all still popular & loved & some albums particularly original pressings are now rare & collectable all these years later, but $800 for a rare AC/DC album, $90 for an original Parlophone pressed Easybeats album & $1,200 for an Australian second press black & gold print labelled Beatles Please Please Me album is a bit too much even with a worn-torn flimsy cover?, some sellers are just plain money-hungry cos they overestimate the value way too much!!, yeah perhaps in another 40-60 years but not now??

@@beatlefancraig67 maybe but the AC/DC situation is the one I didn't quite understand. You might be right that it's the Bon Scott era one's in particular. Well, I'm delighted and surprised by your choice of the album George Harrison as your favourite Beatles solo album, Pete. 😎 You know that I'm a BIG George fan; the album George Harrison is one of the three great George Harrison albums from the 1970s (imo) (not counting 'Bangladesh' as a George album solo album). After the disappointing (imo) 'Dark Horse' and 'Extra Texture' - and the good, but not great '33 1/3', 'George Harrison' was a return to top form. 🙂
@peterx19572 ай бұрын
@@ssChroniclesofaGoldenEra-pq6nt thanks (M) yes the choice was a little difficult but I remember hearing that album on the German cassette I bought in 1984 and I was pleasantly surprised by it's quality. Gone was the 'morbid preachiness'. George seemed to enjoy making music again with this one. Didn't mind "33 1/3" either which is on the other side of that tape. It's remained my favourite of his. "Blow Away" is just gorgeous. "Here Comes The Moon" is a kind of sequel to "Here Comes The Sun", the guitar parts are a similar theme but slowed down. Thanks for your support mate. Cheers 👍😊
@ssChroniclesofaGoldenEra-pq6nt2 ай бұрын
I totally get why people who aren't interested in religious themes can be turned off George's pretty insistent religious 'preachy' tracks. 🤔 But, as someone who geeks out on all aspects of religious study, his Krishna songs are inspiring to me. What I'll say too is, that as someone who has an ear for George's religious mind set, some of his songs are toned down / not so obvious religious themes. Blow Away is that kind of song: '...About to go down I almost forgot All I have to do is to love you😮 All I gotta be is be happy...' To some George fans, he's singing to - and about - Krishna. 🙂 Though of course, the casual listener is completely free to interpret the song as just an upbeat song about love and positivity. 🙂

Although still not perfect The Complete Masters is the set to get. I have a few caveats on that box set content wise as well. _The version of "A Little Less Conversation" relased in 1970 on the Almost in Love Camden LP is not included. (In addition to the single master, the Complete Masters set includes the June 1968 version recorded for the NBC-TV Special.) _Take 2 of "I Love You Because," which was released on Volume 1 of A Legendary Performer in 1974 is not included. (The master was a splice of takes 3 and 5.) _Take 15 of "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You," which was included on Volume 2 of A Legendary Performer in 1976 is not included. (The master was a splice of takes 14 and 17.) _The version of "Long, Lonely Highway" (2:57) first released on a single is not included. (The album master runs for 2:23 and is included.) _Take 5 of "Old Shep," which was released accidentally on some pressings of the 1956 Elvis LP, is not included. _The false starts (takes 2 and 3) and the announcement of take 4 of "Such a Night" that were included on Volume 2 of A Legendary Performer in 1976 are not included. (The master was take 5.) _Take 17 of "Stay Away Joe," which was used in the film and accidentally released in 1970 on the first pressings of the Almost in Love Camden LP in place of "Stay Away" is not included. (The overdubbed record master is included.)

Thanks for your detailed comments @MostlyBuicks. I bow to your superior knowledge on the subject of Elvis. The Complete Masters set is probably the ultimate collection for Elvis fans. But unfortunately it's also super expensive and out of reach and I'm guessing out of print too. As I stated, this was intended to be a basic comparison between these 2 sets. The 'fine nitty gritty' of track choice is a whole other animal which you've covered in your comments. Given the number of masters and alternate versions available, that's a whole other can of worms which with respect, I will leave that to the more knowledgeable Elvis fans out there. I hope you enjoyed the video otherwise. Cheers 😎👍
