Hello! So for your popping cork setup, what did you have as bait? A lure or cut bait? I am thinking of using a popping cork with cut bait to keep my bait away from crabs, pinfish, and flounder

I had a clear red glitter DOA shrimp on the popping cork with shrimp procure. Hope this helps…I also like to use live bait on the pooping cork when available. Thanks for watching!

How long does your battery last?

I have 100ah battery. I run it at a maximum speed setting of 8. I never run it empty and typically fish about 8 hours in coastal/inshore settings.

You got some nice fish! I'll be heading that way late August / September for the bull drum run. We usually anchor out in river there and soak a few live / cut baits, hoping for a big red freight train!
@meistershyster20 күн бұрын
I’ll be there! I went once last year but didn’t find them. Hoping for this year!!
@kayak_chris18 күн бұрын
@@meistershyster I’ve gone the last two seasons and we’ve managed 1-3 drum per trip. From the Oriental ramp, we go out into the main channel and I usually try to fish drops I can find on the Navionics maps or in spots where there seems to be a lot of baitfish. We use sabikis tipped with shrimp to catch fresh bait (pinfish, mullet, croakers) and keep them alive in a floating minnow bucket. I’ll fish 2-4 rods with either live or cut bait on the bottom and check them about every 30 minutes or so to make sure they still have bait. It goes from boring to exciting very quickly when the drum hit, as they will bow over a Heavy or Extra Heavy rod like it’s nothing. Hope this helps a bit. See you out there!

Hey, nice video. I actually just moved to oak island recently and bought my first fishing kayak. Im ready to start learning how to kayak fishing around oak island. I have a question, is there an area around oak island you recommended a beginner to put in to fish? Also do you see many alligators? Thanks
@meistershysterАй бұрын
Welcome to the area! A good place to start would be the 31st st kayak launch. I would focus on high tide as it’s pretty shallow back there. I also like around varnamtown…check out those videos for spots. Haven’t seen an gators around there but I have around Southport. I’m sure they’re out there but my experience is that they leave you alone. Worst case smack em with ur paddle.
