Pam, love your paint storage solutions! What a great way to mix up a lot of colors and pull what you need when you need it. Wish I had watched this way back in January. How long does that paint last in the plastic containers?
@artfullyausdemorecoАй бұрын
@@FRANCOOPER Hello Fran- I’m sorry I missed this comment! Thank you so much, I find it very helpful especially if I’m looking for a specific color since the medium dries darker than what shows in the container. In my experience, they last a very long time as long as you keep it sealed well. Most of my mediums don’t last that long though. Since I use them up pretty quickly. However, I’ve had some last almost a year. I made sure to add another protective layer though like plastic wrap, and then add the lid on top of that. Hope this helps!❤️

I’m using Gaffrey Art Materials heavy texture gel mediums. The only thing I add is the acrylic paint color of my choice. If Gaffery Art materials is not accessible to you, Goldens, high solid gel gloss or matte is also pretty comparable. I have not tried creating my own homemade paste as thick as this before. That may be some thing I need to try for in the future!

Hello! I love sculptural paint and like many others, stumbled across Gaffrey because I wanted to incorporate more texture/sculpture into my paintings. I love your videos! How long do you say your paint in the Tupperware lasts before it dries out? I'm attempting to compare costs between making my own or buying premade colors. Painting is my therapy/hobby so being cost effective is important since I'm not trying to make a business out of it. Thank you! I look forward to watching more of your videos!

Hello and welcome! Loved that you have found the magical world of sculptural paint! Thank you so much for the positive praise, I greatly appreciate it! That’s great that you are using it as a tool for therapy and a fun outlet! Creating art has so many benefits! To be honest, I haven’t been keeping great track of how long my paint is in its Tupperware container. However, I’ve had it last for months and no issues. I may have had one that was over a year that I could tell was on its way to drying out, but I tried to use them up quickly. If you’re worried about them drying out, you could always add another extra precaution by using plastic wrap first and then the lid of the container on top of that.❤

Great guess! The outside of the piece is the quickest to dry just within a few hours. The center takes the longest, usually 3 or more days to be sure.

What will happen if we do this on a canvas instead of wood??
@artfullyausdemoreco4 ай бұрын
You could definitely paint/pipe on a canvas, there are several other artists that do this style that use canvases. I started off using canvases and there were no issues. Depending on how much paint you apply and the size of the canvas it could possibly bow the canvas overtime, but I doubt it would be significant. I just prefer to use wooden panels for look and the durability. Hope this helps!

I used to look for ways to pipe paint, when I was making cakes. I just knew there had to be a way. This was way before this art became a thing. I’m so glad to see the possibilities. I don’t think that texture paint is inexpensive though, so I believe you could fill the center with a molded piece of aluminum foil or even a piece of styrene, then build up around it to save material. I do love this medium of art though. Thank you for sharing with us. ✌🏻🤍🤞
