what are you talking about? Taemin himself shared that he worked with his personal coaches from the beginning, SM didn't play the biggest role in his vocal teaching. and he has been famous for his vocals for years now, and showcased his main vocalist skills in his solo songs, SHINee songs, on Killing Voice, Lee Mujin service, etc. he wasn't singing in 'SM's way' and they didn't 'force' him to sing in some way, where did you get that? his vocal techniques also changed through the years, he sings differently from how he sounded in 2012. he sounded more like SM vocalist exactly in 2012-2013. after joining BPM he sings the same way he sounded in SM for the past years, so I'm really not sure what you're talking about. also while SM is shit as a company they're literally FAMOUS for their vocalists and vocal techniques lol, and when people talk about best vocalists everyone names their main vocalists. like let's not be delusional here

He sang old-fashioned in SM with terrible technique - they made him do curves where there shouldn't be and turned him into a singer "for weddings" (that's what people call non-professionals who sing to drunk people in my country). Now his technique is "clean" - he sings with a diaphragm, has stability and great endurance. He doesn't strain the vocal cords - something very characteristic of SM that makes every idol "squeak" - to press too much without proper breathing, something that ruins the voice. SM has terrible coaches- everyone sings like they're at a wedding in the 90s. Dude, nobody sings like that anymore. I'm glad that Taemin is very gala and has tripled the new techniques quickly.
