Do you have any insight on how to combat air escaping while wearing the guardian and having a beard? Dove for the first time with full beard and realized I was losing air from where the silicone touches the beard. Thanks in advance.

You can't monitor your buddy's air supply. The range of the transmitter is too low. Other than that, the Perdix AI is a powerful dive computer. Firmware update now allows it to connect to 4 transmitters, but Shearwater recommends using Swift transmitters as they're less likely to have signal collisions. Preferably use a Lithium AA battery, or a Li-ion rechargeable battery. Alkaline batteries are prone to leaking, NiMH hold too little charge, and Saft batteries aren't very reliable in cold water. Saft batteries do last a long time, but that's mostly because they don't provide much power. Do not use Zinc-Carbon batteries. They do not provide enough power, and aren't suited for underwater use.

Would you recommend going with this AI Trumix or with the Divesoft He:O2?
@SouthernMarylandDivers
@SouthernMarylandDivers 6 ай бұрын
They are both great analyzers. One area where the Divesoft might be just a step ahead is with the HE sensor. It uses acoustic sounding vs a sensor so in theory you would never need to replace an HE sensor (which are expensive). That being said, the lifespan of an HE sensor is long (usually 10 years +) so it's kind of a toss up.

Right here in my home state. A real type 21 U-Boat, well, what's left of it anyway. I caught a 220 pound 5 foot Bull Shark about 2 miles south of this sub. After having a 7 foot Bull Shark of plus 400 pounds swim right under my 12 foot flat bottom in 6 feet of water I called it and sold the boat and trailer.

Do you know if all models are covered under their free parts program? Through the wonderful world of the internet, someone said the elite is NOT. Thanks!

Here, in France, only the Elite limited edition (960 units only) comes with free service parts for 10 years, so it’s 5 kits of parts as it have to be serviced every 2 years. Then there is only the labor to be paid and not the kit of parts on each service. Looking at the very expensive price of the limited edition, there is no benefit to buy this one, unless for the one who wants to have the limited edition…

@@397coney7 I am also looking for my 1st reg. Here, as I will also dive in lake with cold water, I have to get two first stage, so instead of getting an octo, I will get 2 complete identical 1st + 2nd stage. There are a lot of choice for all kind of budget and as I say « too much choice, kill the choice » :-) I have looked on Aqualung and Apeks and will now go to a dive shop that knows Scubapro a lot and also sells Aqualung and Apeks and will make my choice upon my actual and future needs.

I'm going to Cancun and Isla MUjeres Mexico and will be diving shallow reefs anou 15ft -30ft using gopro set up. Being new to the underwater video and photography world....How much light will I need on a bright day in the Tropics? Do I need at all? can I go cheap and get Amazon light with 500/750 lumans or should I get Kraken with 1000lumans or even more....I know at depths of 40ft and deeper having lights is a must and even then I don't knw if 2500L or 4300L is best? mainly for now as a new diver just shallow diving

Another reason FFM's are used are for underwear communications: with nothing in the mouth the diver can talk into a microphone ( bought separately). Be aware that some SCUBA clubs are wary of rec. divers using these as the rescue drills are very different and training would need to be given to all or some members if they want to buddy you.

Hi, I bought a Go Pro Hero 9 with underwater housing. I am taking it scuba diving to Cozumel in July. I mostly will be using it for stills (RAW). Big Blue AL2600XWP-II $319.99 or Big Blue AL1800XWPTC-II for $269 light? I suppose I will need 2 lights instead of 1 light and I was thinking of getting their Flexible Double-Arm Camera Tray with 7 inch arms for $160. Should I rather go with 1 more expensive light like Big Blue 3800? This is for practical purposes and ease of travel and diving. I understand that 2 lights are always better than 1. Back in 2005-2008 I used to dive with Canon Powershot Pro 1 with Ikelite housing and a single DS 50 strobe. I had a lot of backscatter. I understand that 2 strobes diminish the backscatter? Thank you so much.

now I'm using gopro hero 9 black with 2 light. bigblue 2600 and bigblue 1800. if u dive at a depth of 5-20m, is very enough with ur gear now. "but' if u have more of money. is very recommend to buy larger lumens for dive light. light is very important, but if ur gopro setting are set properly and if u can edit in any application for colour correction. ur gear now is very enough. and the last, i usually use light for a depth of 15-30

@@anaszw760 I ordered two AL2600XWPB lights with built in blue light. I hope it will work for mixing ambient light and artificial light. I did not go with more expensive lights since it is for a Go Pro, not for a full frame $8K Sony mirrorless.

The red mode is engaged by double clicking the switch. The brightness levels are changed by cycling trough with single clicks without too long of a pause. After two seconds pause clicking again turns the light off. Would imagine dealers know their merchandise..

9 months later... i got my suunto d4i back in 2012 and i've been using it since. simple for fun dives.... But for me, its time for upgrade, i was thinking about suunto d5 or the teric.... $400 difference in price its quite significant. Also somehting im.confused withh the teric, after 5 years need to send the computer to chearwater company to change the battery. i really would forget, wouldnt want it to die while diving when it hits the 5 year mark. But im probably gonna get the teric 😂

I like this setup, however I dont want to be responsible for holding onto it at all times, Id like to clip it to my bcd with a some sort of retractable cable, what do you recommend?
@SouthernMarylandDivers
@SouthernMarylandDivers 4 жыл бұрын
S G H, I’ve never been a fan of retractors for anything. I’ve had a few fail on me and they can be an entanglement hazard when diving in tighter conditions. I prefer a small gated clip similar to a dog clip to secure it when not in use. Very easy to use and after a few dives the muscle memory makes it effortless to clip and unclip from your BCD. Make sure to get a good marine grade one with stainless steel spring or else you won’t get more than one or two salt water dives out of it.

So no red filter needed?
@SouthernMarylandDivers
@SouthernMarylandDivers 4 жыл бұрын
Correct, with lights you would not use a red filter. If you did combine a red filter with light, everything would be red. The lights bring the colors that are filtered by the water back into visible range for your camera.
