y how you've grown I remember that phrase From my childhood days too, "Just wait and see" I remember those words and how they chided me When patient was the hardest thing to be Because we can't make up for the time that we've lost I must let these memories provide No little girl can stop her world to wait for me I should have known At your age, in a string of days, the year is gone But in that space of time it takes so long Because we can't make up For the time that we've lost I must let these memories provide No little girl can stop her world to wait for me Every time we say goodbye You're frozen in my mind As the child that you'll never will be You never will be again I'll never be Be more to you than a stranger could be Every time we say goodbye You're frozen in my mind As the child that you'll never will be You'll never will be again Every time we say goodbye You're frozen in my mind As the child that you'll never will be Will be again

Whenever I see TV news stations ramp up the news into a fury this song always pops in my mind. Cable news and social media feeds the people propaganda and sensationalism to soft and lazy minds and they want to turn it on. $$$$$

Been thinking of this song more than ever before these days. Honor Roll handed out like candy. No deep thinking about much by youth anymore, that they think gender dysphoria means youre literally the opposite sex and men can break women's legs in sports now. Its the cheat code. Their minds are soft and lazy. For instance, I said all this fairly succinctly, but "an essay bruh 💀" Dont mind my "wall of text" bruh. Just buy another video game... or cheat code. Candy Everybody Wants.

My Dad wrote me a letter back in 1990 after he left my Mum, took my Brother with him. I never understood that letter at 8, anyway it was from my Dad so still precious and I still have it. He died in 2016 and since then i have listened to 10,000 maniacs to feel close to him i suppose. I was driving lustening to this song thinking , i wonder if my Dad was thinking of me when he listened to this song. I am a girl btw, i share this yt with my Hubby. Then all of a sudden that letter popped into my head! Soon as i got home i went to re read it and it was the lyrics to this song he had written! I really dont know how that letter suddenly entered my head as i was listening.. Silly maybe but i like to think it was my Dad guiding me to it and that letter is still so precious to me and so is this song. Music = powerful connections. ❤🎶🎶

As a father of now-grown daughters, that line "Every time we say goodbye you're frozen in my mind as the child that you never will be, you never will be again" hits different. The fact that Natalie Merchant sings it with such grace and sensitivity brings me to tears every time.
