Perhaps there should be a new gold, silver, oil, pharmeceurticals and long lasting food commodies(rice, corn, millet, wheat, dried breadfruit flour/ cassava flour/palm oil) pegged ASEAN currency used by all ASEAN countries....

If we have enough lands to build houses, who wants to stay in HDB. HDB in Singapore is costly and congested with one block has to accommodate 100 families. I rather live in Malaysia with every household got a big piece of land to plant your own fruit trees and vegetables.

His statement is a political one rather than an economic one. There are many government policies that make sense politically but it's nonsense economically.

The world has printed and spend since '08. And it got worse and worse. The pandemic was just bigger with steroids. People prevented from working, meaning supply dropped and governments printing and spending more. And now policy makers are clueless? They point to the war in E. Europe?! The Russia Ukraine war is the catalyst that pushed and manifested the inflationary policy for almost 14 years. Not the course. The 70's Paul Volcker put interest rates to almost 20percent... and we think 1 to 4 percent would do anything. What a joke!?

I absolutely agree with you. As a scholar trained in Austrian economics, I embrace your argument. At this regard and with reference to the specific case of Malaysia, you may want to take a look at our Policy Papers 3 and 4, available for free download here: marketedu.me/policy-papers/.

@@carlito78100 Oh wow! I think i've caught you on astro or tv3. Vaguely remembering nodding to what you say, but didn't know you were a fellow Austrian. I have very little training and failed my economic modules but have always loved mises and rothbard. Malaysia is lucky in the sense that it is rich with natural resources and has the industry to exploit said stuff. But i have seen with my very eyes: waste the state and its oligarchs has committed. The scar it has left us. And still people view the state and its apparatus as saviours. I kid you not. Anyways good luck on your endeavours. Will read your stuff!

Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations is in the public domain and can be downloaded from Project Gutenberg and searched. Smith used the word 'invisible' six times but only once as "invisible hand". It is really curious that we hear about invisible so much. Smith used the word 'education' EIGHTY TIMES. We are not told that. Search for "and account" and you will find multiple instances of "read, write, and account", not "read, write and arithmetic". Double entry accounting was more than 300 years old when Smith wrote Wealth of Nations but 50% of Brits were illiterate and public schools did not exist. The United States could have made accounting/finance mandatory in the schools since Sputnik. Wouldn't that have helped everyone serve their best self interest? But we do not hear these people propagandizing us about the "invisible hand" advocating mandatory accounting because that makes their invisible rip offs easier. Adam Smith never used the word 'depreciation'. He mentioned paper money being depreciated one time. Marx talked about 'depreciation' a number of times, sometimes regarding the depreciation of machines. But consumers did not buy automobiles and air conditioners and televisions before 1885. But it is OK! Our brilliant economists don't talk about the depreciation of under engineered consumer trash today either.

Infrastructure and access/transportation much like TOD style should come first. In most cases everything should not be profit oriented. There is also state and federal programs on this so call affordable housing. But again this segment suffers the most overhang

@@carlito78100 I guess people are moving to the secondary market where everything is established and mature. Only when the secondary market is stable and strong will there be demand for the primary market. But if the prices of newly launched properties are high in the long run Malaysia may just have extreme affordability issues and developers with large land banks can go back to doing agricultural/farming activity or plantation.

Maybe long term but short term politicking will distract decision making and see significant delays to project implementation. If we get GE this year we will loose 2 months of turnover in my opinion
@carlito78100
@carlito78100 2 жыл бұрын
My concern is that, if we wait for another year before GE, we will lose the whole year in politicking and therefore the much needed strategic decisions and reforms we need will not be done, because voters need to be pleased. This is why I think that the sooner, the better.

The road to hell is always paved with good intentions. I think this was because of the lack of understanding of how the market really works. The level of thinking in terms of solving the problems is too shallow that in the end, hurts the very group of people they set out to protect in the first place.

most people that object MM2H in Malaysia doesnt realize, MM2H is not PR, its a travel visa program. The new regulations are treating it as if its PR program. MM2H holders cannot work in Malaysia, only spend money. Its a ridiculous notion that foreigners are here to take away our resources, as these foreigners spend several times more than us here. Do not mistake tourist for PR

FIRE (written August 1998) There’s blood on my skin, my wounds are open, they guide you to my soul. I’m licking my wounds and I like it too much. Fire, burn into me! Fire, shine on my world! Did you taste my blood? Did you feel my fire? You cry over me, but my pain can help you. Fire, burn into me! Fire, shine on my world! I’m the fire, I’m your fire. My Lord, save me…

There has been no critical analysis of the trade-offs and no evaluation of each national case in relative perspective. If you think that Malaysia (114 deaths) followed the same strategy as Italy (31,000+ deaths), then we wonder why such a global suicide was decided.
