It's a running and driving OBS Chevy, those things bring GOOD money, even as a long bed. I'd clean it up throw some cheap but nice custom wheels on it and pass it on to someone as a nice daily driver that they can work on themselves as a daily driver and a weekend fun truck.
@TheMidnightMechanic2 күн бұрын
I don't know about driving, but definitely running! We've been kicking around trying some new build ideas on one of these trucks and this one seems perfect for that. We're not going to go crazy, it'll still be a good driver for someone when we're done.
@TheREALOC19722 күн бұрын
@@TheMidnightMechanic But you did take it on a drive.... so yes it's running and driving, yes the trans needs rebuilt but if you know what your doing you can do it yourself. I personally would rebuild the automatic trans because when you put a manual in it you shrink your market by 50% at best, if the new owners want a manual then let them do that themselves.

Short beds definitely bring a higher price. Be interesting to see if it's profitable.

My nephew has a 86 S-10 That was almost a complete Parts Pile/Facebook Marketplace build. He paid $200 for it with a blown up engine, we put a Olds 307 and automatic trans that came out of my grandma's old 78 Old Delta 88 and was just taking up space in my shop, he put new gaskets all around, and painted it up all pretty, the block and heads is Olds Gold engine paint with black valve covers and intake, The seats came out a late 90's Cavalier that he bought for $50 off of Marketplace that we took the covers off fixed the foam that was gone on them and recovered them with some new tan seat covers I bought several years ago that I had in my parts loft and then forgot about. The only thing he bought new was the paint and we painted it with Majic Implement New Holland Yellow paint and then we sandblasted and painted the original steel wheels black. He's probally got 1000 bucks into it all in but that little truck's a ripper. I'm actually kind of jealous how nice it turned out.

real life: my friend had his S10 non-running legally parked in street in front of his house (insured & tagged) along with an 80's wagon that did run. These volunteer cop-types decided to ticket them and haul them off. As a nite shift worker he woke up and they challenged back and forth and when the real cops got there they figured out the volunteer cops were trying to haul off the mans property in a shady way. My friend won but he's still pissed off.
