Quite alot with an engine this size! Sawbenches and water pumps, even smaller threshing machines and mills.

@@1393_JoeTurnerMarine engines tend to be a smaller deal, multiple cylinders if they need more power. Tractors and small locomotives could be done though!

I remember an old boy ran one at a sawmill - he said when working them really hard you have to drip a bit of water on the bulb

Interesting that there seems to be only one power stroke per dozen revolutions. Is that just how it idles?

Nope, this is how it runs, it's a hit and miss engine. You can speed them up so it'll rotate faster, but always with the same sorta gap between power strokes.
