The Queens of Catchy Hooks.

An interesting song and one that Jokim and Par have never really said much about as far as the inspiration and meaning. I have seen a lot of speculation in various forums with the prevailing thoughts split between a rejection of religious dogma and a call to embrace individuality. My personal view is this is a rejection of the excesses that come from organized religious fanaticism. Although they are not credited, Jokim has stated that guitarists Oskar Montelius and Rikard Sundén both worked with him on the lyrics as well as writing the solos. One thing I would add is that "The Last Stand" is specifically about the sacrifice of the Swiss Guard; the Swiss mercenaries would almost certainly have acted the same with anyo9ne they had been hired to protect. Not sure if you have reacted to them but maybe "Hill 3234" or "Midway" or "Blood of Bannockburn." If you do "Blood of Bannockburn" you might also consider a comparison to "Rebellion" by Grave Digger (the live version with Hansi Kursch and Van Canto at Wacken is pretty cool) or "The Clansman" by Iron Maiden.

For most Wintersun fans, this song was their first taste of the band and it got them hooked. Of course they'll gonna recognize the first riff :D

To be precise i just saw a video. Where Nico asked Kevin what his mist sophisticated dance move was. And he stood around, and then the Camera went to Babymetal and they signaled Ok.

Well it is rather simple. Kevin Switches to a full Neandertalet Mode. From the japanese perspective this Breaks so many Taboos that they are probably fascinated. Not sophisticated but so extreme blunt and Alien.

Seemed to me that this version (with the kami band) had a much harder metal sound than the official video with the EC band.

One of Nightwish's best songs ever! It fits in with the last two Albums ..and I love "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" and " Human : : | | : : Nature " I can't wait to purchase this new album!

There has been some really good fancams of this from world tour , BabyMetal and EC are at same festivals and are performing it twice on each others set EC musicians on their set and BabyMetals Kami band on their set and they look to be having great fun time doing it 😁 🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼

The first "Ratatata" I heard was in a goody agent movie, an elderly agent fight enemy with a goofy Karate moves. Same as EC broke into the conference room .😂😂😂😂 From what I heard from the live sound of both party, I felt this song was adjusted by each band and leaned more to their original style if sound. For Fox-fes, it sounded more heavy metal, and vise versa.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 I feel honored to have witnessed this performance 2 times at the venue 😍. On Day-1, the girls and Nico / Kevin hugged each other (and group hug) to celebrate the success of the live debut (heartwarming!!) The song was played in the BABYMETAL's setlist in the festival. So the band on this stage was BM's West Kami Band (Great!!). The interchangeability between the two versatile bands is good. Now the 3 girls and 2 boys are doing this song with EC band in EC shows and with Kami Band in BM shows, in two ways, in some European festivals 💛。

The live is just insane, like seeing more of SU dancing is incredible as she is way better now but she just vibing & all happy with it adding some her own style, new little dance moves & the new costumes were badass too!

Interesting for me are these little differences in performing this song in the EC and in the BM show in Rock im Park. BM had a very long fu fu Part at the beginning, whereas EC are more or less the studio version performed. But I guess we will see also some small changes on the EC side in future. The version at the Fox-Fest was very close to the studio version, only the band of BM put at the end a little more emphasis on the guitars.

Fun fact: One of the singers said that it was kinda hard to do that dance move with the hand while moving the head at the beginning. Also at the end, during the third chorus, which btw was a BM suggestion to include (EC didn't want a third chorus), in the MV you can see them doing the same dance move waving theirs arms up and down, they wanted to do it in the live version but they failed and quit when starting with the wrong foot lol EC played this at Sweeden Rock recently and oc it wasn't the same without our girls, still cool thou ngl. Yesterday they played with BM together once again at Rock Im Park during EC setlist and later at BM setlist with the girls wearing new badass outfits, they also did it just recently at Rock Am Ring and there's a cool proshot clip already.🦊🤘🐭

To be fair: You were warned about the German Schlager in the beginning! 😉

They warned us! It deals with sensitive subjects such as German Schlager (1st half). And death (2nd half). 🤣

The first cheesy part is clearly inspired by Wendler "Egal" (a real German schlager start, so you are warned.) The cheesy music doesn't match the German lyrics. The sang how disgusting it was when she sat on him yesterday. The deathcore part is in English where he want to marry his rotten queen.

In short it's there *FU* to the Eurovision officials in Germany for saying they were to heavy to enter with Pump It. So they took German Schlager, this specific style of pop, then transitioned it into ridiculous heaviness whilst killing themselves as the Schlager band in the video. The lyrics are roughly about meeting a women, then lyrics that kinda seems like a love song but are about not being able to get the smell of her off etc, but then when it transitions to the dark metal bit he gets interested and wants marriage. Something along those lines.
