Wow! I needed this more than you can imagine right now. What a magnificent song. My youngest son passed away in July of this year,2022. He was born December 23, 1984. ( Birthday tomorrow) We came home from the hospital on Christmas morning. I placed his carrier under the Christmas tree and put a beautiful blue bow on his head. His father passed away in 1993 (40 years old) of a sudden heart attack. My son...the same..37 years old. I knew he had the "markers". His older brother's didn't. "Thank the Lord". He was so smart, talented, college athlete. But most of all..caring, kind, giving, always helping others. He always said to me "I LOVE YOU. YOU HAVE ALWAYS AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE MY HERO." He told me that the night before he passed away as he left from visiting me. What a wonderful memory. My Mother passed away 28 years ago today. I now know I will listen to this song every single day. I would have played it at his funeral if I had only heard it before now. Beautiful, just BEAUTIFUL. God Bless you & MERRY Christmas..

Just when you think, I sure need a blessing. 15 years of the worst of storm. Our son passed at age 32. It was then, no storm was really hard at all. I felt such comforting love. All the hurt just seem to turn into joy for our son is now our treasure in heaven, where my heart is. This song truly is a blessing.

I first heard this song, I understood all to well. I knew it came from brokenness and deep sorrows. We each walk on the same road. Thank God I'm closer to the end of my road. As hard as life can be: I can't say I earned my way. Thank you Jesus for not giving up on us all, amen

The original writer of "The Anchor Holds" is Lawrence Chewning Ray Boltz only done rearranging of the song cutting it down from a long song, but if I not mistaken, this was all before Ray came out as gay. Even though that sad thing happened with Ray Boltz, God still uses the song to bless people. We arent singing the song and praises to ray boltz, we are singing to God. God can take something that is not necessarily good, but good can come from it. This song has blessed many people over the years. We all, at some point in our lives has messed up, sinned, or whatever, I think we can sing the song recognize the original writer and his purpose for writing the song without giving credit to the rearranger. We must pray for Ray not condemn him...2yrs ago I would not have said that, but after what I've been through and witnessed in the past year and a half, my out look is much different...I do not look the same way at others, that are out in sin or has backslidden as "there for the grace of God go I". So I say we enjoy the song without acknowledging the rearranger and only acknowledge the original writer and his reason for the song...the song is to God.

A great song that touches my heart. I am 74 years old and have been through many storms....I have lost 3 husbands..the first to leukemia when I was 44, the second by massive heart attack, and finally the third just in 2014 after a major stroke.. I was brought up in church from a child and have known the Lord since I was 10 years old, but somehow, I got away from God when I lost 3 children by way of miscariage....I too sometimes have wondered what good could come from all of this, but you know.....I am sure God has the answers and hopefully will show me why in time to come. I have several medical problems as well and am now disabled....but you know???? I still believe He has a purpose for all of it...He is the great creator and has the master plan for all of us, so I keep holding on to the nail scarred hand and God has never let me fall too far....He is my anchor and will continue to be regardless of what storms I face......I totally understand how Lawrence and his wife felt going through all of their storms but Praise God, maybe the reason was so Lawrence would write this great song....God bless you Lawrence and I , for one, sure am glad you wrote it as it has helped me get through some of my storms....You are a blessing.
