I visited Morocco last month and visited Tangier (Tanja for me, of course), Rabat, Casablanca, Essaouira, Agadir, Marrakech, Tetouan, Samir Marina and Chefchaoun. What I missed was Fez and Meknas so next time. So your video is really enticing me to visit ASAP.What I found amazing was the clean street food as it does not cause any health issues. I wish to go there every month actually.

Why give tips to the audience? It only stands to reason for them to find out for themselves. No more videos, please. And tell your other vloggers.
@sedoff19484 күн бұрын
Tangier has been spiffed up greatly since the 70s, for good and bad. In the beginning of your video you walked into Café Tingis, where Bourdain talked with Jonathan Dawson in his own video. I spent an afternoon with Paul Bowles before his death. A smart man and not really associated with the beats. They came to him. He lived in the new part of town near the old American Legation. Chris sits on the balcony of the Café Fuentes. It used to be très scruffy. Now all cleaned up for the tourist dollar. Morocco has taken the globalization pill. Maybe even a tunnel soon to Spain. Nothing like obnoxious Spanish day trippers. And Café Hafa. Bowles and my dear Tennessee Williams used to go there often. Now, it’s lost its low keyed charm. As to the commentator maxcoleurs that “each and every videos on Tangier by KZbinrs is the same”. I would say many are worse than this, but my feeling is why do these vloggers make videos? Money, notoriety? Why don’t they just go without purpose? And ditto for the armchair video watchers. The world has become a pale, feckless resemblance of the past. Like where I just came from, Hoi An, Vietnam, aka Disneyland Vietnam, cum Korean and Chinese selfies galore. A clown world. God works in mysterious ways I suppose. Thankfully, I’m on my way out. I got the tail end of when the going was good.

Such lame comments after the video, one saying Google map doesn’t work and asking how to get around. Why not just get lost? Or asking him how many days they should spend in Fes. These commenters are feckless. Aside from that, a good video and Fez is one of the best places in Morocco. The walls and cemetery outside of them magnificent. And the city park he showed- 1975, Marci and I waiting there under a full moon to head towards the desert at midnight. He fails to mention in comments about the Mellah, the Jewish quarter, that there ain’t any Jews left. Maybe a few. All left since the Arab-Israeli wars.

Alas, Essaouira has changed so much since the 70s. It’s now inundated, to put it mildly, with tourism. Most the little Berber shops and kiosks are now latte cafés and trinket shops. I used to camp off the beach which is now a five star hotel. The young , as this vlogger is, is oblivious to when traveling wasn’t visiting globalized tourist venues. The ramparts, by the way, was where Orson Welles filmed scenes from“Othello”. The sea off the ramp as is where my deceased friend Chris, an American novelist, and I sailed in his self made sailboat, drinking a few Stork beers. One of the deserted islands was once penal colony. And there is indeed a castle in the sand, between Diabet and Ess. It was a sultan’s palace now half submerged at low tide and listing. Apparently, the song, Castles Made of Sand was written before he arrived but it is fitting and perhaps prophetic.

Advice from a Tunisian don't follow people that told you they gonna show you the city they gonna act friendly at first then they gonna beg you for money also they work with shop owners he gonna brings you to his shop and gonna take advantage of you and gonna make you buy his stuff, If you trying to buy something, get a taxi or ride a camel or a shariot... always lower the price the half they be giving crazy prices those people see tourists as a bag of money. And if he starts to take advantage of you tell him you don't have any money, it called "flouss"in Tunisia in case they don't speak English cause most of them dont

Hi! Is Hammamet better to stay than Sousse or Monastir? Thanks in advance.
@ChrisKermis8 күн бұрын
Monastir - no idea, didn’t go. Sousse has a prettier old town center, but Hammamet seemed to have more going on I. jasmine than in the tourist part of Sousse. I’m glad I visited both

Hope you enjoy your trip! The old city part of Hammamet is very small so it should be easy to visit there and maybe even Jasmine on a day trip.

Which country do you recomend for a person visiting north Africa for the first time, morocco or tunisia?
@ChrisKermis10 күн бұрын
Hard to say for someone else, personally my order of the two was Morocco -> Tunisia in terms of first visits. Morocco is more touristed so has more infrastructure for tourists if that’s a consideration. Both are fairly easy and great to travel though!
@janetleeadams728711 күн бұрын
I am an American female who has lived in Tunisia for several years. I think your advice is good and practical and accurate. One time to just pay the high price is the taxi from the airport unless you have only one lightweight bag and you want to take your chances on walking to the highway. If you can't negotiate, just show an amount you are willing to pay--15 or 20 dinar--and now, it is not common to charge much extra for baggage. If you are solo travelling, have some small euros which most drivers will take; know the exchange rate. Excepting taxis to and from the airport, taxi prices are really very, very reasonable. I travel by louage, but in the summer, the louage is HOT and there is no air conditioning.
