Johnny is a great singer, but not for this song. No one could touch the voice of Esther Satterfield as she made this song hers with her heavenly voice.

I am going to disagree with the commenters about the orchestral playing. I find it lacking compared to what you’d get from a non-pops ensemble. Everything is too creamy and smooth, even when the music doesn’t call for it. There are moments where I want and expect more dynamic variances and they don’t observe them.

Is Chuck Mangione really himself - or Arturo Toscanini? That’s meant as a compliment.

Some young band member in the rhythm section. That doesn’t look like Ed Shaunessy on drums, nor the regular guitarist or bass player…

Para os que adoram criticar o que realmente torna bonito o canto do Johnny é o seu vibrato. Faz bem aos ouvidos. E lindo. Aliás a única voz no mundo que a gente jamais se enjoa de ouvir. Parabéns Johnny.
