Excellent version of Ragging River. One of my fav albums of all times as a teen, Captain beyond One. Do you do any other Captain Beyond songs? We'd love to hear them.
@@neighborhoodpicnic2022 Dang! Best cover of CB ever! Might be better than the rebirth of CB Bobby Caldwell put together for a tour back in 2020 I think that went on tour...Singer really puts heart into it! Amazing playing, all of you! God Speed to all of you!

I’m the late Ray Smith’s son (of Heads, Hands & Feet) - my dad would have been thrilled if he could have seen you guys performing ‘Warming up the Band’ - this is instantly my favourite version of this classic track - superb 🎸 🎼 👏🏻
@MarkBaker5615 күн бұрын
Thanks so much Paul. You should be very proud of your Dads work. I discovered the Old Grey Whistle Stop preformance of Warming Up the Band while researching some of Albert Lee’s early work. I immediately popped in my head as a great tune to start our annual picnic project that year. Thanks for your comment. Many of the songs we choose are in hopes of introducing folks to something they may have forgotten or have never heard before. Check out Sausalito Summer Nights, our cover of a Diesel tune. That one was a song none of us had heard before and like your Dad’s song was a ton of fun to perform.

@ Thanks for your generous reply Mark - I have been spreading the word in the UK about ‘The Neighbourhood Picnic Band’ in-fact I’d love to see you guys performing live next time I’m in the USA if that is possible 🇺🇸 There is a song on the ‘Tracks’ LP (track 6) called ‘Hot Property’……it was also recorded by Chris Farlow, but you guys would absolutely nail it if you ever performed it! 🎸 *Interesting Fact about the ‘Tracks’ album is that it was actually placed into Elvis Presley’s hand in 1972 (while he was in Las Vegas, by the Heads, Hands & Feet Manager) - I wonder if Elvis listened to it or even had intentions to maybe record one of the songs?? All the Best, Paul

great version! And I truly dislike cover bands...lol...RESPECT!
@MarkBaker5622 күн бұрын
Thanks Greg. We are fortunate To have several front man quality vocalist, allowing us to cover a pretty wide variety of bands from various genres. Some of us have been in Beatles tribute bands, Rush tribute bands, Punky bands, even classic and current Country bands. This pooling of influences and the shear love of music makes this a labor of love. Another factor may be that after these one off live presentations we choose all different songs for the following years performance. By consequance the material doesn’t get old and stale for the musicians as often 3: 3:59 3:59 3:59 3:59 3:59 happens with the repetitive nature of “Cover Bands”. I know where you are coming from as I try to see local acts as often as possible. Most are Covers and Tributes. I hope we dispelled some of your opinions on Cover bands and I invite you to check out our archived annual performances. Thanks for your interest.

It just sounds too good to be live. Has to be a Studio Dub over?
@neighborhoodpicnic2022Ай бұрын
Thank you! It couldn't be more live! I think you have made this comment before on another one of our videos. This is what happens when great players are prepared. This is a once-a-year gig with lifelong friends getting together for this one day. We only play these songs all together the day before and never again after the show. If you noticed the band is made up of 10 guys who rotate in and out for each song. I'm the drummer and I do the recording. 16 tracks, all mikes on stage are their own channel. We also have most of the amps going direct to the recording device, so it eliminates the bleed on those instruments. That's why the recording sounds so good! I have to laugh at the thought of playing 30 songs live and then doing an "overdub" of everything later. Yikes! It took me long enough just to mix the audio (16 trks) and make the videos (6 cameras). C'mon PJ, you did make this comment before on our Journey medley. Did you forget? I don't want to insult you, but I feel your comment is insulting to the band.

Cap, we aren’t a band in the traditional sense. These videos are taken from annual performances. Songs are done live publicly only one time. We are from the suburbs of Chicago. Many of us grew up in the same neighborhood. Music has always been the glue that bonded us. Some performers are offspring, step children or significant others. Some of us play out but not as this group. Thanks for your interest and feel free to ask any questions. We keep an eye on the comments so an answer will follow within a week or so but often less.
