Mozart was a master in shifting from minor to major and then back again in a few seconds, also noticable in this quartet. I have learned that somebody calls it the Mozart Turn. Anyway, I like this music because of this, but also because of these musicians!

KV 421 is among the so called Haydn Quartets. Wonderful music by Mozart, and wonderfully played by Amaryllis Quartet!

For many great musicians, this Quintet is the summit of occidental music. This is an other good rendition of this "opera magna". Thanks from Chile, a long strip of land between Pacific Ocean and Andes Mountains.

Thank you for this masterly performance of this somewhat introspective and darker chamber piece. Despite that, Schubert is always reassuring that something is still wonderful about humanity in this weary old world it seems to want to destroy. .

The last note of the final movement is has a long diminuendo-like sign as is often the case in Schubert's last years' pieces. Amadeus Quartet with Rostorpovitch uses a clear diminuendo on the note. This performance doesn't do so much but still used a discernible tapering. I think it is right if it comes from Shubert's feeling of his life ending moment.

This string quintet is great music and specially I like the Adagio at 21:00. Schubert must have been very content writing this almost heavenly quintet. Thanks to Amaryllis Quartet and Jens Peter Maintz for wonderful playing.

He was living his last days and he knew it. It is a very dramatic work, but it has a light of hope, his end is a landler, a sort of of waltz.

I see that, in the first movement, the loud dominant 7th chord leading back to the second time exposition is omitted going into the development, though it is written in: I'm sure this is correct (having also produced a recording of this great work) and have always felt that this is usually played by mistake. A wonderful performance..

Phantastic!! The recording seems rather "direct" (microphones rather close to the musicians and maybe very well amplified), so that's very very demanding to the players. And it doesn't do any damage here, since they simply play heavenly. Listen to the many colors, variations of vibrato, broad dynamics... It's a delight in all aspects.

It is common knowledge that Johannes Brahms had great difficulty in his quest to write a first symphony. This masterpiece has the sonic richness of a symphony, at times evoking instruments not in the score (including a couple that he loved to use -- the clarinet and the French horn. There was no obvious parallel to this work when Brahms composed it. By achieving such richness he may have achieved the equivalent of a full orchestral symphony. In short, he did not need to establish himself as a symphonist with this work even if he would later show himself a master of orchestral color. Has anyone ever arranged this work as a "chamber symphony" or "symphony for string orchestra" as was done with some string quartets of Shostakovich?
@guillermorochabrun34562 жыл бұрын
The 1st piano Quartett in g minor has been orchestrated. From Wikipedia: "The quartet was orchestrated by Arnold Schoenberg in 1937, at the instigation of conductor Otto Klemperer and premiered by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Klemperer; this orchestrated version was made into the ballet Brahms-Schoenberg Quartet by George Balanchine."

@@guillermorochabrun3456 A different work, but done well (Schoenberg loved Brahms).

Hi, the same about sonic richness can be said about the 1st serenade. The slow movement has the same depth as the andante in the 4th symphony. By the way: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqush5-VZdpmo9U
