Absolutely amazing! Is thus the best firework show in Japan or should I go to another. Is there a hotel with a view? Thank you!
@lifeisamt5 ай бұрын
Kounosu firework festival in Saitama prefecture is definitely worth going, particularly for the world’s largest firework of yonshakudama firework display. I must say, however, Nagaoka firework festival in Niigata prefecture is considered the greatest firework festival in Japan. Because of its highest quality of the fireworks in terms of overall artistic quality, creativity and spectacle. The other great one is Ōmagari firework festival in Akita prefecture which is as fantastic as Nagaoka’s. According to its website, Nagaoka’s firework is on August 2 and 3. This is Nagaoka firework festival website. nagaokamatsuri.com/topics/2532/ Also, Omagari and Kounosu websites are: www.tokyoweekender.com/event/omagari-fireworks-festival/ kounosuhanabi.com/ You can take a look at some of the past Nagaoka and Omagari fireworks on KZbin and see what you think.

Did this in 1977 and nearly slipped to my death. It gave me a fear of heights that has stuck with me for life. If you start to slip on the sand on the top and slide down, that's it. I remember seeing large birds above giant trees down below the clouds and fortunately the school field trip guide grabbed my arm. Not sure I will do it again. Maybe. Good vid.

Good to hear you made it back in one piece! I remember, standing on top of El Cap, I feared one slip would be the end of my life.😅 So, I was careful not to venture out too much farther down to the edge of the cliff 3,000 feet above the valley floor! 😬 It's a great hike, but rather strenuous. The reward at the end of the trail is spectacular and worth the effort, however.🤩 The funny thing is you notice Yosemite's famous monolith is missing when you take a panoramic view of the valley from the top. Then, you realize you are actually ON IT!😆 Thanks for watching and glad the video brought you back to the memory of your El Cap adventure!👍

The new Bay Bridge, which spans between Oakland and Treasure Island, is beautiful. The bridge initially had no path for pedestrian/bike, but later they built a pedestrian/bike lane so that people could walk/bike across the bridge. Now you have two bridges that you can walk/bike across in SF....Golden Gate Bridge and the new Bay Bridge! Thanks for watching!

Very good video. Trail start a little different from 1969. There was no little bridge across some water. And the lookout must be in use. The windows are unshuttered. Spent 92 days living there. Interior views look exactly the same.
@lifeisamt3 жыл бұрын
You spent 92 days living there in the lookout? Wow! That must have been awesome. 😎 You must have been a ranger, I guess?....unless you were a hermit!? 😁 Sourdough Mountain is a great hike even though irt's ather challenging because of elevation gain. Panoramic views from the top are spectacular. Since the top is spacious and not crowded with hikers, you can have it all for yourself! The lookout was in great shape and did look in use, neat and clean when I hiked up there in 9/2016.

Yes, he played the crab vendor in this Honda CM. Connecting the dots....Vitto Scotti was a SF born Italian American, which means he was an authentic San Francisco native! Nice to see him in this CM filmed in SF playing the crab vendor at the famous Italian restaurant Alioto's! 🦀🛵

When visiting Tokyo five years ago, my partner (a retired architect) and I made a point of visiting this glorious cathedral by the late Kenzo Tange. I have admired it since I was an adolescent; yet our Japanese Guide had no idea of its existence, or importance, to the Roman Catholic people of Japan. It ought to be on everyone's itinerary.
@lifeisamt3 жыл бұрын
Indeed, it is one of the most religiously significant and architecturally prominent modern buildings in Japan. Regardless of religion or faith, the architecture of the cathedral impresses visitors leaving the place with awestruck sensations no doubt. Great that you didn't miss the opportunity to visit it during your trip to Japan. Btw, have you ever visited St. Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco? I used to go there and it always reminded me of St. Mary's in Tokyo. Both cathedrals are equally magnificent.
@Mark_Dyer13 жыл бұрын
@@lifeisamt Thank you for responding. There are similarities between San Francisco and Tokyo RC cathedrals; but that of Tokyo pre-dates that of San Francisco by around forty years, or more. Whilst we are well-travelled Brits, my partner and I (75 & 70) are unlikely to fly again, owing to all the covid crap going on. We will simply enjoy our memories and photographs.

Grew up in the projects on Army & Harrison 1960-1983, my friends & i would hike up Bernal every weekend usually would sit right by the Radio Tower thing eating the wild blackberries.We all hung out u there. & sometimes would camp out hoping the police would not catch us...There were no benches back then. Sure miss my neigjborhood... S.F. & the beauty of it.

It's a great panoramic view of SF you can see from Bernal Heights...kind of hidden gem only known by locals? as most tourists and outsiders go somewhere else (GGB, Twin Peaks, Coat Tower) for a view. Lucky that you used to hike up there every weekend! 👍 SF is such a beautiful city!

awesome video, couldn't imagine the sense of awe you felt seeing that in person. I've only been to Yosemite once, and can't wait to go back to this fall. Looking to hike to Mt Lyell Glacier. At around 0:48 second mark you panned around and captured Mt. Lyell and Mt. Maclure and one of their glaciers. to the northwest, left side, of that ridge, there is a rounded peak, any idea what peak that is? at 0:48 its on the left side of the shot and it is out of frame at 0:49. I'm thinking Parsons peak ridge?
@lifeisamt3 жыл бұрын
The rounded peak may be Parsons Peak. There are some photos of Parsons Peak posted on summitpost.org (link below) which exhibit the peak resembling the rounded peak framed between 0:46 and 0:48. Clouds Rest offers amazing 360 panoramic vistas covering the landscapes of both Yosemite Valley and High Country. Thanks for watching. www.summitpost.org/parsons-peak/images/p-154592
