After watching Doc Martin for years, I’m convinced everyone in Portwenn are either all insane or a bit crazy. Doc Martin was the only normal person of the lot, but in later episodes, I notice a bit of Portwenn craziness in him too!!!

I had the best years of my life at Whitsand Bay, walked across the beaches many times. My brother had a chalet at the bottom of the cliff near the shop.

Great video with lovely photography. Was that lugger replica the same one that featured on a TV programme when it was being built, and did reside at the National Maritime Museum for a while after being built?

Our favourite Cornish Garden is Antony Woodland Garden, near Torpoint. A hidden gem, with space to wander before meeting another soul. Stunning camellias and magnolias and time to sit and enjoy the life of the river too. Plus a lovely little tearoom with delicious homemade cakes and lunches.

Gareth Lee's 'lifeline' soundtrack to this video will always be the song I associate with my brother in law Clive Johnson, who we laid to rest today 26th May 2022. He is speaking at 0.19 on this video. Anyone who knows the cliff probably encountered Clive at some stage during his frequent visits since 1968. I have lived in Truro, all my life, but was introduced to the cliff back in 1998. I grew to love the area and even got married to my wife at Rame Church in 2009. Such a sad day today for all that knew and loved such a beautiful man and peaceful soul. Rest in peace 'Cliff Man' and may you forever remembered by us all. Thankyou for this beautiful video, I will view it whenever I want to be reminded of the beauty of the Cliff, its people and the last 24 years of my life of visits to the chalet.

I'm a Scotsman and i work in Somerset. When i was a child my parents relentlessly holidayed in Cornwall.... old style camping... We visited everywhere and it never had the feel of being in England it was more like a completely different place. Similar in many respects to Devon. My girlfriend is pure Cornish and i wish that some day the Celts can get the recognition they so richly deserve. Mebyon Kernow.

English people are 60% Celtic and 40% Anglo-Saxon, the English have probably more celtic blood in them than many other parts of the UK, Scotland and Ireland have more Scandinavian blood (dna) than the average English person does... Stop with the division (it's communists behaviour, they have nothing else)... Celts BTW are the Bell Beaker Folk R1b just like the Anglo-Saxon are.. Yes dig up the music from the past and keep it alive, it's all our past. Anglo-Celt.... Ps, after 1066 and the century that followed was a Norman conquest where the new landowners took 95% of Anglo-Celt land the Kings of England didn't even start speaking English for about 250-300+ years after that conquest.

In the sixties it was the sort of place where all gates seemed to be held together by baler twine, very different now. Though a few years ago I stood on the top of Brown Willy and heard the drone of the cars on the new enlarged A30, not good.

A real Cornish cream tea has splits not scones. Scones are from Devon. To make splits you need a soft milk bread moulded into rolls and cooked very close together so that there is a minimum of crust. Then you tear them apart (not cut) into a top and a bottom and each is spread with jam and cream (and which comes first depends of where you live in Cornwall!). The problem with splits is that they take four hours to complete so difficult to make in a hurry.

As a kid I holidayed in Bude every summer between 1981 and 1986. The thing I always remember most is the tannoy announcements from the irritable coast guard guy in the watch-tower. 'The sea is not save to bathe at the moment, will you please come OUT!'.
