so sad our kids are so picky and we have trouble getting them to eat! That was always our major concern that we'd get the kids to eat! Corn is not a very nutritious food. Kids need protein and carbs and everything in a balanced diet! Here in the states even the government will give food vouchers to mothers to make sure that the kids have food! As a Grandmother and Mother this really bothers me!

Sadly, too much time has passed for Korea to unite like Germany - there will soon be nobody with memories left from the time before separation and all new generations of north and South Koreans will have grown up on essentially different planets and cultures. Economics and politics is also a even bigger factor, while East Germany was significantly poorer and much more authoritarian than West Germany - the differences between the two in economics, culture, freedom and politics was significantly smaller than that between the Koreas. So a reunification would be 1000x more difficult and expensive compared to Germany. That doesn’t mean that a United Korea won’t happen - but it would need to be much more gradual and span several generations in order to make North Korea catch up and reinvent itself in terms of culture, economic prosperity, education and mindset, rather than just over a year like the case for Germany. Meaning North and South probably will continue to be separate for at least several decades before reuniting in the case that the Kim dynasty falls and the north becomes free sometime in the future.

@@Luna-ft8yh at least much much better than Vietnam. Out of the 3 typical divisions (Germany, Korea and Vietnam) in recent history, Germany did its best, and Vietnam did its worst (the boat people tragedy after reunification, closed economy till 1986, single party ruling ...).

@@Bennett854It seems like you're basing this off your personal preferences. Vietnam has reunified a lot better than Germany has, and the majority of Vietnamese agree with the single party system. South Vietnamese don't feel anywhere near as left out as East Germans.

I grew up after the unification in Germany but many East Germans still feel neglected and ignored (seen also in recent elections). Doing it right - even peacefully - was challenging and many were traumatized by experiencing mass unemployment. Westerners spent much on the East, though.

North Korea is more of a nationwide cult than a actual country.. it reminds me a the series "handmaid tale" without the religious government. The notion of "we couldn't focus any brain power on anything but minute to minute survival" is WILD!! when he said "maybe is they were rich they were able to think about...stuff".. its just maddening shit..just imagine being what they consider "middle class" but still being so poor that u don't even have the time or energy to even ponder on how fucked up the status quo is in North korea..
