I'm sorry, I didn't understand any of that. What are GIDs and why are they more important?
@mnmszerviz
@mnmszerviz Ай бұрын
Please don't be sorry, it's why I compile and post all these videos, to spread the knowledge and positivity. GIDs are a measure of a LEAF battery's actual ability, not just a nominal percentage - named after the gent that devised the measure - the GIDs % can often be WAY lower than the SOC %, added to the results of the 'stress test' for the battery packs, give a buyer a true indication of the strengths and weaknesses in a LEAF Battery pack.

I'm surprised how runny it is; just like water, has it got some "flush" added to it, or is it naturally like that?

That oil lubricates the 2-stage reduction gear And the differential. Nissan specifies ATF for this gearbox which probably isn't as good for gear protection as a dedicated manual transmission oil. I'll be using a synthetic 75W-80 transmission gear oil in my Leaf gearboxes.
@mnmszerviz
@mnmszerviz 22 күн бұрын
That is a very poor comment. Although 75w-90 will nominally improve the protection, it will massively affect the economy, downwards - not advised at all - regular changes with the recommended oil are the best .....

If one is fitting a larger battery to a Leaf, a Translator Kit from £EVsEnhanced makes fitting any battery a plug & play conversion. Using a CanBridge, if one has the wiring ability, is another option.

This happened to me recently. 2013 leaf. It finally came to me to try changing the maximum charge setting at 80% that exists on the 2013 model (I don't know if it still does on newer models). It worked immediately. Would only work at 80% & not before but at least I didn't have to keep waiting until 100%. I don't general carry my charging wire in the car to do as in video. I should check out your other video. The only time this has happened is on a machine with no Stop option. Apparently supposed to stop it on the app but my app wasn't giving me the option. Not a smart design. Anyone's phone could die or app glitch that doesn't allow us to stop the charge. Thank you for the tip!! Coz great to know!! Hope mine helps as well.
@mnmszerviz
@mnmszerviz 5 ай бұрын
NO, the 80% charge limit on earlier cars ONLY applies to the AC charging - the DC charging goes around this limit [where applicable] AND the Charging Timer, hence why this video can be vital - there's a Take3 I've done, too, using the convenient Type2 tp Type1 adapter, which is always handy to carry with you, in case you can't find any Chademo & you're desperate .....

@tobyholland1961
@tobyholland1961 11 ай бұрын
One of the final scenes in the video is the comparison of lower height with the 62kwh pack fitted - the lower ride height, with the deeper pack, reduce the airflow under the car, improving the economy more than just with the axle deflector I fitted. This that require the original ride height and/or extra ground clearance can easily fit rear springs from a 62kwh car, or proprietory coil spring assisters, available online.
