Never been able to see one operate in person. Answer me 1 question : is the Vulcan digital control like some others?
@TangoOneАй бұрын
I think your "scratch" that you do is simply grounding out the tungsten which is why it's starts up easier. When I first started tig welding aluminum I was having all kinds of problems getting the arc started until someone told me about grounding out the electrode before you start. Essentially from what I understand is that static builds up when welding and can cause problems with the high frequency start so by touching the tungsten to the work piece before you begin you allow that static to dissipate.

My reverse lights went out - now I know where they connected to. Thank you for taking the time to make this quick video - it really helped!
@2muchspl19 күн бұрын
@@thomaswhalen5451 The reverse light is usually tied to the neutral safety switch, here is how I have mine wired: A = empty on my 2003 harness (so unhooked) B = unhooked C = 12v ignition/switched 12v D = Ground E = 12v (permanent) F = 12V out to rev lite G = to pin 86 on relay Pin 30 = 12v starter activation wire from IGN switch. Pin 87 = 12v out to starter Pin 85 = Ground Hopefully this helps, I would start looking around terminal F. The vehicle doesn't need to be running but will need to be in reverse. Don't forget to chuck the wheels for safety.

Where are these "Deutsch" connectors used? Does this wire now go into a connector housing where it acts as a pin or does it go as-is into a junction box or something? Where is this used?
@MonkeyFabGarage2 ай бұрын
instead of typing all this i'll recommend putting "Deutsch connector uses" in the search above, and there will be a bunch of videos that will show better than i can explain here. thanks

Just so everyone knows -- and this is not a joke -- the V-clamp was originally known as a Marman Clamp after Marman, the manufacturer. Marman is a portmanteau of "Marx" and "Manufacturing." The "Marx" refers to its owner and the designer of the Marman Clamp, Zeppo Marx. Yes, THAT Zeppo Marx from the Marx Brrothers. One of the first significant uses of Marman Clamps was as the B-29 bomb bay Drop Mechanisms for both the Fat Man and Little Boy atomic bombs dropped on Japan. Zeppo was a brilliant man. His wife, Barbara, divorced him and married Frank Sinatra.

Ya really shouldn't let any acid soak in your shop. Even vinegar (acetic acid). Yes it's mild, but smell that? That is some getting in your air in a semi closed space. Even covered those fumes will rust stuff in an accelerated manner. Guys have used Muratic acid (HC!) in their shop which works really fast by the way, buts hazardous. Poor guy found just about everything metal was rusting one week later. Ion your not in a hurry, white vinegar works well on mill scale. But cover tightly and try to do it outside if you can. Also heat accelerates the process with vinegar.

You didnt explain what the other connector does .... is it needed ? Does the nuetrals safety control anything else in the transmission
@2muchsplАй бұрын
Those go to the PCM for range inputs if someone is reading this and curious. They are absolutely needed, regardless of which transmission. The neutral switch controls nothing inside the trans,but does stop the vehicle from starting in gear and provides a reverse (+12v) for much easier reverse light hookup. It is not needed for the trans to go through gears and driving around,but I highly recommend you do hook it up & use a relay,here are the wires : A = empty on my 2003 harness (so unhooked) B = unhooked C = 12v ignition/switched 12v D = Ground E = 12v (permanent) F = 12V out to rev lite G = to pin 86 on relay Pin 30 = 12v starter activation wire from IGN switch. Pin 87 = 12v out to starter Pin 85 = Ground

I have this machine, and when it is working, it works fine......when....... I've had a few months and have had to several times take apart to adjust- clean the HF contacts. I also have a Miller Diversion for 15 years 180, and a Hobart Tigwave 250 for 32 years and never ever have an issue. But I can not trust the Everlast to bring it on a jobsite and be confident it's going to work. I'm back to using the Miller cuz it always works. I under stand the Miller cost 2 1/2 time what the Everlast does and you get what you pay for but still.......come on!
