The vehicle in the video is still going strong in Brisbane and is driven by my daughter in law who does not believe in being kind to her cars. Do you think that there might be an associated issue with brake master or slave cylinder? I thought that I had a major problem with my Rodeo but discovered that the internals of the slave cylinder had failed, with the only clue being that the brake fluid was getting so dirty quite quickly after bleeding the system. Hope that you get it sorted out.

@@johnvienta7622 You're right. Hyundai is low maintenance and packs a few surprises. I was gonna drain it again and put the old one back in if I hadn't sprayed the weeds with it. I didn't torque the fill plug properly the last time and had to top it up after noticing oil leaks on the driveway but air may have gotten in. Got another 2.5l from Supercheap to use up credits and will replace again on weekend. Can't answer the brake cylinder association. Didn't know they would be associated. Someone who appears authoritative on GL4 v 5 said that it does not 'attack' as in corrode but stains the yellow metals. Ill edit his channel in @GearBoxVideo

Greetings from Canada. Your video saved me what probably would have been a small fortune if I had taken my car to a shop. I popped out the magnet from a fridge magnet (with the sticky gum attached) and used it. I had to be quite the contortionist to install it though! Magnet worked like a charm. I also replaced all my tail light bulbs. A few were not working well, so I figured what the heck and pulled them all. System is working like a dream now.

Did it work? Need my leaking cracked tank repaired. Is it a losing battle or worth the effort? Thanks
@johnvienta76227 ай бұрын
It did not stop the leak completely but did have an effect as previously it was actually spraying out. I spoke to the people who make it and they said that another coat may be required but it has not been empty since so we have not had the opportunity. I would probably go heavier along the actual crack if I did it again.
@tonyfletcher17187 ай бұрын
Thanks for that. Have been tossing around a few ways to go. Getting a liner installed or even dropping a poly tank inside as I have just a tin roof cover. Still not sure what to do. Would be frustrating to clean it out and patch up and still have leaks. Thanks for posting. You cleaned up your tank really well before the seal. Not an easy task
@johnvienta76227 ай бұрын
@@tonyfletcher1718.. I looked at liners but was worried that the concrete tank may be unsound. My issue was that one section was a bad pour (about 28 years ago) and could fail and that is one of the things they discuss re inner linings. The concrete tank is pretty well a spare as we also have a poly tank but I prefer the water from the concrete. I have been told that concrete tanks can become unsafe when they are empty for a long time and have heard of them collapsing, so ask an expert re the idea of dropping the poly inside, although as you said you have a metal top. All the best.

Thanks again John, you have been a great help. I may have a go doing what you did. My tank has about 200mmof water and mud in the bottom so I'll have to bale that I suppose. I was amazed how clean and dry you got the bottom of your tank. I'll need to clean mine to get the full picture. I have about 3 vertical cracks and 1 horizontal. They all just weeped or dripped with moss on the outside. I realised the tank was empty when I saw the moss was dead. Its been leaking for over 10 years but never emptied before but with the current lack of rain in West Gippsland it wasn't getting any topups. Thanks again for posting your video

Today 28 January 2024 2012 Barina TM Manual Trans. Gear nob replace/remove Mine was falling apart below the gear selector indicator. I tried the vice grip but it just yielded on the already crumbling outer part of the knob. So I decided to removed the rest of it and alter my goal, as this is where I figured I don't need a gear nob, as follows.. 1. Removed the gear selector indicator (top) as it is only glued and came off easily, as the already crumbling part holding it sort of in place, gone. Keep this and separate, with force, the base from the actual gear selector indicator (in 'resin' with picture backing) destroy the backing but not the selector picture. 2. Remove the rest of the crappy crumbling gear knob with an old demo chisel and hammer. This leaves the actual base gear knob that the outer plastic is injection moulded onto (I believe). 3. With a grinder and simple metal cut off disc amd skilfully use the flat part of the disc to remove the harsh edge lip around the top of the knob and other hashness and to shape the knob to ur liking. 4. Electric/hand sand the nob to finish any harsh bits the grinder can't get and finish smooth generally. Sand flat the rope of the nob.. NOTE: this is where I figured I would use a flame of some sort to smooth out the sanded plastic. I don't have one so I'm at the hardware shop now getting one that will, hopefully, lead to a nice finish of the knob. I've seen plastic in videos treated like this to restore a shine to a dull plastic finish so let's see.. 5. (To be done) use a lighter or high pressure lighter flame to melt slightly the plastic after sanding. I think a high power cigarette lighter should do but maybee more. 6. Glue the gear selector cap onto the nob with a mastic, I think this would be beneficial as the cap is slightly larger than nob. Remember, the outer plastic has been roved and the selector cap separated, so it's not all the same size. Or just leave the selector cap off if you know where the gears are, or make your own. I hope this helps. Cheers

I looked that the first video I did about this filter ( Location/removal ) and unfortunately I did not cover the removal of the clove box itself however I seem to recall that it had a damper rod on the side, and when they was unclipped the glovebox just dropped down and pulled away from the pivot points. You may have a different type but I have found (from other vehicles) that squeezing from the middle of the softer plastic at the back part, pulls the sides in and allows it to drop down. It was a friends vehicle and I do not have access to it at the moment.

Just chucked a can into my toyota allex hatchback 2001, 1.5 litre automatic. Can't wait to calculate the fuel econ on it soon. i bought the car bout 7 years ago, its about 20 odd years of age, well maintained and looked after. For years i've lived with the rough idle, it felt more like a diesel than a petrol car. Never have I put fuel cleaner/system cleaner additives in it. Did some research on fuel additives being good for older vehicles, I was tied between Nulon or Penrite... I added penrite fuel cleaner for the honda, in the past though didn't feel like much changed, agreed with the mixed reviews. I went to supercheap, yesterday they didn't have the fuel system cleaner I wanted for those brands, out of sheer luck Liqui Moly fuel cleaner and conditioner was on the shelf, took a look at it, there where two bottles left, i grabbed them both. Went over to the petrol station added it it before fueling. Already I started to notice significantly huge difference for the Toyota, runs lot better in everyway. More enjoyable to drive tbh. Gonna chuck some in the honda n retop up the toyota next week. This stuff changed my perception on fuel / total system cleaners, I thought it was unnecessary snake oil stuff. As these additives are supposed be already in our petrol. I doubt that much.
@johnvienta762211 ай бұрын
I was certainly impressed by it. From what I have read they add detergents to fuel and I doubt that they would put in anything that improved fuel economy as that is not in their interests. Re the rough idle you might like to check/clean the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor, using the spray designed for that job. Thanks for your comment.
