Correct. This was my first birth and although I tried to film it, it wasn’t a priority. I have two other birth videos that are recorded not just talked about if you benefit more from those types of videos.

I'm desperate to wrap my 4 week old as I have a toddler to look after and I find a front carry gets very much in the way. But at this age they're so delicate I don't even know where to start 😢

Back carries are for infants that can support their heads. The instructions on any wrap will also say to allow the head room to move to avoid suffocation risk

I would never put my baby om my back. You never know what can happen and you don't see it. Only cold people do this
@tinywoolyelephant
@tinywoolyelephant 9 ай бұрын
Humans have been back carrying for thousands and thousands of years. It's very natural and safe. Just because not as many people in the West do it this way does not make it "cold". It's good to have your baby with you as much as possible and this is a great way to do it.

It’s called Great Egg-speciations by Robbins Nest Weaving. It has a peppermint weft and green tea modal warp! It’s 4.2m and a complete ace bandage 😍 It’s been used by all three of my kids and I actually helped weave it while I was 9 months pregnant with my first born ❤️

You put your baby at risk! meconium and the cord are both big risks to the baby and you could hear it in the voice of the midwife that she was not happy with you and i don't blame her!
@TheDerrys
@TheDerrys Жыл бұрын
This comment is wrong in so many ways but I understand that this was just a short video and you can’t be expected to understand every single part. My midwives were not upset with my decision at all. She agreed that based on how the meconium was, it wasn’t a high enough risk that she thought we needed to transfer to the hospital (which is right down the street) considering I didn’t want to, I couldn’t leave in all of our conversations around the topic. We had had months and months to get to know each other before my birth and she was on board with the birth I wanted. Also the cord being around the neck is really not an issue at with typical births, it’s actually really common and a trained professional deals with it without any problems, in fact that’s one of the things they went over with my husband before our very first ever homebirth incase they weren’t there in time because it’s very easy to check for and rectify before it becomes dangerous. Recap, no my baby wasn’t in danger or my midwife and I would have both agreed to transfer. No my midwife was not upset with my decisions and was actually amazing and supportive of me every step while still making sure I was aware of all sides. No the cord wasn’t a risk and most people who have given birth before can tell you the same thing. Please don’t go telling strangers on the internet that they put their babies at risk without all the information. You should try asking questions first.

@@TheDerrys I am not only a UK trained midwife which is a far higher qualification than over there, in addition, meconium shows the baby was in distress, you stated you didn't want to be monitored which is negligent for starters.. she bluntly repeated back to you that you refused the transfer to cover her back. How did you know the baby hadn't inhaled the meconium? midwives over there are not well qualified enough to make ANY medical decisions which is why you have an incredibly high rate of deaths during childbirth, as the baby wasn't being monitored and was clearly in distress to have passed a bowel motion in utero that was enough of a reason yet thereafter you didn't take it seriously and hopped on into the pool, the cord could have easily strangled the baby as it was long and that was probably the underlying cause of the distress...you made the decisions on the birth plan based on YOUR feelings and comfort not the safety of your baby! In addition to the midwifery training, i am also medically trained.... You DID put your baby at risk, which is why i felt compelled to post! Shocking and very selfish!!!!!!!!
@LR-ux4fh
@LR-ux4fh Жыл бұрын
The cord around the neck isn't a big risk, it is fairly common. Sometimes they're a bit stunned but they can always get a couple inflation breathes with the bag and usually perk up great.
@tijay8507
@tijay8507 Жыл бұрын
@@LR-ux4fh Are you for real!! in a hospital setting or in countries where midwives are fully qualified like there are in the UK a cord loosely wrapped around the neck is not too much of an issue but it can and is fatal in other cases! when you have had years of medical training like i have then you can jump in on a subject that you clearly know f all about at present! you need to educate yourself!
@tijay8507
@tijay8507 Жыл бұрын
@@LR-ux4fh This cord was wrapped around three times! the cord strangling the baby and it cutting off oxygen are responsible for up to 30 percent of still births! just the strangulation aspect alone is around 10 percent but with the cord being wrapped around more than twice the oxygen levels play into this birth too!
