My young adult hard-working student has good technique but her ankles lack flexibility. She has been professionally fitted in Pointe shoes twice (different brand but similar style) and still can't get up over her box, despite breaking them in. She has very long toes and was thus given a high vamp (which we have tried to soften) but I feel that a lower vamp would be better for her ankles to align. Also a split sole or 3/4 softer shank would help the shoe mold to her arch - which is minimal to begin with, although she's not entirely flat-footed. Any suggestions for brand and style pointe shoes as she is prone to get plantar fasciitis if she keeps forcing herself up in her current pair.

My daughter has the exact same issue - wider metatarsal and narrower heel and her heel twists off the shank. She has found that RP Rubin/Radiance fit her well, but now they are impossible to find. We are having to begin our search all over again and would love to know the brand of the second pair of shoes you tried on your model.

Pupil having been fitted with her first pointe shoes was given a low vamp that her loose feet just bulge over the front off and is making her claw to hold on. By time teacher saw that shoes were wrong for her the shop would not take them back as they had been sewn. Child cannot afford the outlay for another pair. I wondered if there was a way to add something to the front to make vamp higher. When I was a young dancer I always needed a higher vamp at the side to support my little toe. Or a break with a wrinkle formed that dug into my joint. So I always armed my self with cornflake packets and made shapes to glue down the sides (often two) They only lasted a class or two but there wasn't the selection of shoes in my day and I couldn't afford to have specials made. I was wondering if they have come up with anything that I could use to tuck inside front vamp to lengthen it. Just to get her able to do some barre exercises. She says will have to wait for Xmas to get money for new shoes. Thankyou in advance income has ideas.
