So, I have an interesting insight here. My wife’s mother’s side of the family had some pedigree. Her aunts (5 of them) were born to a model and actress and her husband, who came from a wealthy family; one of them even was married to a Trump, the Don’s second cousin. The 5 daughters were quite good looking in the 70s and 80s. Several were models, actresses, married rich men. One of them married a guy that has a shady backstory. His son, who we know, often drives to NYC or Philadelphia. He doesn’t have a job, but has a pile of cash. He regularly buys new vehicles, vacations, etc. he’s a really nice guy, too. He is very active in the Catholic Church, does a lot of charitable events and dinners. You can call him any time and he will help you, even money. One time I joked he must be in the mob, and he sort of laughed it off. After dinner, as we were leaving, he grabbed me by the arm (not harshly) and then said, “It is better for both of us if you never joke about that again. People could get the wrong idea.” Then patted me on the back. I never brought it up again, and he is just the same. But something in the way he said it made me think it was his idea of doing me a solid, and telling me to keep myself out of his business. But we think gangsters are all outwardly evil people, but if my wife’s cousin is indeed in the mob, he hides whatever it is he has done very well.

I always compared CJ and Niko with one simple thing: the voice lines. CJ always taunts, mocks and boasts about using violence while Niko is always trying to de-escalate things by saying something like "don't give me a reason" "don't make me do this" or a similar tone. Niko regrets his mistakes while other protagonists justify them as means to an end...
