This point is basically dropped later and didn't really serve a purpose, but it wasn't a plot hole. Plot hole 2: This is not a plot hole. Tanjiro and Nezuko weren't that important to the plot at this point so it was more like he was letting it slide rather than explicitly enforcing their amnesty. Even in person the Hashira put up a lot of resistance: it's clear they don't just automatically listen to what the master says because they immediately started arguing and even after hearing that two well respected members of the demonslayer core were betting their lives on Nezuko, they still tried to prove him wrong. Plot hole 3: This is not a plot hole. Are ghosts just a common place thing in A Christmas Carol? or Hamlet? Ghosts just appearing to setup certain components of the plot, but not just wandering around all over the place is a completely normal use of them. Probably the more common use in fact. Plot hole 4: This is not a plot hole. Demon Michael Jackson can change forms and they don't even know what they're looking for. He's just taking the place of normal everyday people. Tanjiro doesn't use the magic system or demon slayer training to find him, he uses his superhuman sense of smell which is established in episode one. His sense of smell is a weird arbitrary trait that I don't particularly like, similar to his unusually hard head, but it's not a plot hole, not even close. This is a unique ability, so it tracks that despite the Hashira being more skilled they wouldn't be able to find him. Plot hole 5: Huh, guess this is a plot hole. I mean, you could argue that cancer neji's location is pretty secretive, so he could very easily have just been lying because Tanjiro wasn't worthy of that information at this point, so I don't think it's that egregious.
