Anybody wishing to carry out metal detecting on Crown Estate foreshore may do so without a formal consent from The Crown Estate. We do ask that you read our terms and conditions before doing so. This permissive right applies to Crown Estate foreshore only and not to the seabed, river beds, or any other Crown Estate land. To find out which areas of foreshore we own, please use our Foreshore and Estuary Map which you can find here with our ownership marked in purple on the map.

A permit isn't needed I've just had an email back as long as you don't detect the river beds

Hello friend! I'm really curious to know your thoughts on my recent video, which required a whopping 14 hours of work. Your feedback is invaluable, so feel free to share your positive or negative comments. Stay tuned, and I'm eagerly awaiting to hear from you.

Am I right in learning that you no longer need to apply, as they issue 'permissive' permits now?

Yes something totally free, how kind, how noble ,how considerate ....wait a minute ? The Crown Estate ? A private for profit CORPORATION ..? ..The reason it is free is to get YOU to contract to their terms and conditions .Once you do by obtaining a free permit you will find that in the contract rules it clearly states that all your finds now belong to the Crown estate ...you just gave away all your rights to any claim on any find ..BINGO ... well done :)

Probably everywhere has been detected to death. Can't really see the point of a permit, beings as its so easy to get one and the maps are available to print as well. Probably nobody gets stopped here either.

lol. Just bought a charger - I didn't think of that but it's obvious now you mention it. I suppose it came with a couple of extra batteries which I needed anyway so its not all wasted.

Good to see someone using the Gopro camera for detecting. Just got one myself but won't start using it for the detecting videos until my extra batteries arrive as it devours them when shooting in HD. HH and feel free to send me a video any time for the Worldwide Metal Detecting Finds series. Pondguru
