1982 was the first year we (Redwing) did bluegrass festival sound. We spent 10 days in Beanblossom. Good to hear that the audio stands the test of time. Not too bad. Sounding great Mike!!!

I am praying for God's arms of love to wrap around the family & friends of Miss Nellie!!!!!!! What a wonderful service & memorial for a woman who was obviously sweet, kind, loving & a wonderful person!!!!!!! The spirit felt in both the service & memorial is a great testimony to the love she surely must have carried in her heart!!!!!!! The music overwhelmed me with such a peace that I forgot I was watching via a computer screen!!!!!!! It was a feeling I haven't felt for quite some time!!!!!!! Truly a great blessing!!!!!!! Thank You!!!!!!!

I am so very sorry for your loss, Mike. Prayers for God's peace, comfort & understanding to go forward with all the family & friends!!!!!!! What a beautiful service as a testimony for the legacy Miss Nellie left!!!!!!! I believe I could sit & listen to that preacher singing or preaching all day long!!!!!!! His singing is so familiar.......like I know him in my mind, but from where? I feel like I've played some places with him & he used to have a group that traveled around singing. I don't know. Maybe, I played some churches with him back when I was with The Daltons.

Thanks so much! Mom is in no more pain. Keith Williams has been a family friend and a pickin' buddy sine I was a kid living back in East TN. He and his wife Mynabell pastor a church in Greenville, TN. You won't find better people than them. I was fortunate enough to take them on one of my tours to Israel several years ago as they both toured and performed with me. Thanks again for the kind words and prayers. Brenda & I pray blessings on you and your family. We look forward to seeing you all soon again! Mike

@Mike Scott Brenda.....................It is such a blessing that among such circumstances, you are willing to share your story & give a message of hope & love to others!!!!!!! You are a dangerous threat to satan in both your testimony & the music you have shared with the world!!!!!!! The devil can NEVER silence that!!!!!!! I've only been around you Mike & Judy one time, several years ago at a gospel event for the Ernest Tubb record shop. I was so blessed by the song & wonderfully blended harmonies, I was compelled to come over, just sit down & listen!!!!!!! There was such a feeling of love & kindness that just seemed to radiate from the 3 of you. You ALL made my day by just allowing me to be around you & sharing that blessing with me!!!!!!! I know your family & everyone you come in contact with, also knows & feels that as well. I will be praying for you & I know countless others will be as well. I'm reminded of my great uncle who gave me my 1st guitar. (1946 D-18) He told me to learn Romans 8:28 & although I foolishly traded the guitar to a banjo, that bible verse has stayed with me for nearly 30 yrs now. @0:14 Is that David in the checkered shirt with the hat on. I would love to see him, pick & sing some with him again. I've only seen him a time or two since I played for him & Joe. I had his cell number, but I've lost it. We had been talking about him coming down to KY & doing some recording. Now, I've got my own digital home studio & I can make that happen much easier. If you hear from him, please tell him that "Hacksaw" misses him & wants to talk to him!!!!!!!

These Chinese mandos are strange to me. There isn’t a lot of used ones out there (except the older models with the big necks, that need fret jobs and set up), and the new ones are all on back order. Demos in the KZbin world don’t compare them to anything as far as A/Bing them with the 600 or similar models and don’t talk about the weird no tone bar construction. In all honesty the sound demos I’ve heard are quite lackluster. Looking forward to trying one someday.

Hi Mike, Ich had the pleasure to play on stage at the Maggie Valley Opry House with Carl and Danny in the 90s.Me being a mandolin player who admires the Monroe style and being a member of Germany's Bluegrass Gospel band Sacred Sounds of Grass You can imagine what a treat that was for me!

Loving this! Can you tell me who the guys are singing with Carl Story please. We saw a youtube video where they are singing at the Waterloo village. Then we found this one. Thank you for sharing. I figured it out...... My Mother started listening to Carl Story when she was 7 on the radio. She lived in Lancaster Texas. Mom now has some of his records albums and cds. About 5 years ago she found an address (p.o.box) and sent a letter to see if there were any dvds of Carl Story (I figured mom would get the letter back) however Mom received a letter from Carl's wife Helen Story and Helen sent moms couple of dvds they have been friends now for over 5 years. Mom is 82 and watches the KZbin videos of Carl Story and we found this one and Mom says Thank You for sharing this video. You're awesome too.

Yes...Thanks so much! Carl was such a huge icon for so many. The band is from L-R:George Hazelwood-mandolin., Danny.Arms-mandolin, Mike Scott-banjo, Carl Story-guitar, Mitchell Moser-bass

@@MsBanjo1 Mom said she wished there were more of Carl Story and y'all. On the Waterloo they said he played on the grand old Opry ,do you know if there's any videos of him on there? I found several of his vinyls on discord and bought them for Mom.

@@kathypearson3821 Not that I know of. Had so much fun and traveling with Carl and the band for just over two years...Nov 1980-Feb 1983 when I left Carl to come to Nashville to work with Jim & Jesse and The VA Boys. I did about 175 shows a year with Carl and about 250-275 shows a year for 4 years with Jim &Jesse 1983-1986. Thank you and your Mom for your support! I do stay in touch with Helen Story...Carl's widow. She just had her 90th Birthday and is doing well...still living in SC.

I watched this on our local PBS channel back then. (And I actually recorded this show on VHS). It was in 1984 my wife and I saw you at the McLain Family Band Festival in Berea, KY with Jim and Jesse, Allen was playing the 5 string dobro. After one of your sets I got to meet you, and you also introduced me to Allen. He showed me a lick I was having trouble with in his tune "Bending the Strings", playing my Fender Concert Tone and I got to play his dobro. A highlight for a guy like me to meet you both. Thanks for the memory!
