I find it so interesting to see the things each person chooses when plein air painting. There are so many possibilities! And such a variety of items that are essential for each individual. For me, at least, one thing I can’t do without in my bag, no matter the medium I’m using, is a pack of baby wipes. I always carry them, but especially when I go out with oil pastels. 😊

So sorry! It is just the first ten. minutes or so. I wasn't aware until someone msg me. I decided to keep it up because there was nothing in that ten. minutes that wasn't repeated once I realized.

Thanks for a lovely video. The Touch markers are lovely when they’re new, but they sadly dry out really quickly. At least mine did.

What a beautiful result! Thanks for sharing this-I’ve been using several types of charcoal (vine, harder charcoal pencils, and some dark black pastel) during live portrait drawing sessions, but I struggle getting middle values down even though I’m working on light grey paper. I like how you kept the values from getting too dark (that’s how it looks to me, anyway) and how realistic and beautiful your drawing became. I really want to try it next time-toning the paper with a layer of vine charcoal and then subtracting with a kneaded eraser before going a little darker (but not too dark) in those darkest areas. I’m not sure how you managed to keep your hands from resting on the paper and pulling off big smudges of vine, though! Well done, and thanks for teaching/sharing.

The Sennelier have a true transparent Ultramarine... If a transparent pigment is opaque, the brand added something to the stick to make it opaque.

So glad I found your channel because I’ve been enjoying oil pastels lately and it seems so difficult to find good tutorials using oil pastels, until I saw your videos! Don’t worry, I’m sure the channel will grow and grow. I started watching Sandi Hester years ago when she only had about 500 subscribers and her channel has blown up over the last five years. I think it just takes time. Loving your videos and thank you for uploading!

I have never been a Swatcher because those tiny squares on large pieces of paper with a bazillion colors made my head spin 😳 Your swatches, however, are so clear and manageable. And dare I say, even enjoyable looking 🫣 I am just getting started with oil pastels and will definitely look into actually swatching various combos. Thank you for a great video.

Great review! I’ve always been pleased w my Temu purchases. (So far😂) I will say I doubt Temu is gonna be the place to buy anything dependably archival. 😂😂 but… that being said, they are great for just everyday fun art.

I don't know if you know or not, but on Temu they will give you a refund if the price goes lower. You go to your orders, order details, look for price adjustment. I will check every couple days. I have them do as a credit for future art hauls lol. You can only get it for 30 days though

Love the tutorial video. May I ask what’s the name of the book you used for reference and the tool you used to scrape off op. Thanks for sharing.
@dianedobsonbartonart9 ай бұрын
Thank you! The book is “Birger Sandzen: An Illustrated Biography”. The tool is a pottery tool. I’m not sure what the name would be, perhaps a sgrafitto/detail tool?

These big crayons What is the content. What is used to make it stick to the paper?
@dianedobsonbartonart9 ай бұрын
Gum tragacanth is used to make the sticks. Then a fixative is applied over the finished image.
