Massachusetts about 50 plus years ago was a great state to live in and raise a family and today I wouldn't give a wooden nickel to move here just for the high crime rate alone .

Twerps, thought 4% contr rate, was 400 frickin' %, right thru Supremes! I was Security Risk, but Old Sam had started workin' at Five & Dime in 1963, JUST LIKE ME!! He said, I was to be included, as he had a good feeling about me! Semis had started out from Bentonville in hard rain, got a Tropical Storm, thru Tornados, & into our "Ice Palace"! Our Walmart Cheer didn't help, as trailer doors swung open, all pallets crushed, & all our fixtures were in giant jumble. Being Old Bass-Turd in 40's, w/no tomorrows, I scaled that sht, & right under Semi's roof, started handin' pieces down, w/help putting like items together in piles. I was pre-tired as had just worked 10 hrs @ Mich Rubber, makin' parts for GM, but after 1st Semi's Wheels just spun, not able to leave ramp, same Loser needin' job desperate, went out to car for 50# sacks of salt, & on salted ramp, the Semi's rolled, & same Loser crawled up atop heap, & handed down other half of fixtures! Suddenly, know-it-all Set-Up Gal from Bentonville, Shrieked, "This Blueprint, isn't for our store, in fact, they're for store Half our size, and not even for our store's shape of building! She called it "Dang", but us Northerners, just said "SHT", as was exactly what deal was!! Sam's Loser, still needin' job desperate, volunteered to Measure MFer up, double # of checkouts, add 2 more aisles, design it, & got it drawn up overnight, over to Business Supply at Open, have 4 full size copy of it made, if Bentonville Sexpurts, could just buy 5 easels, assemble 'em, & ready @7:15 AM next morning...WHICH THEY DID!! T'was a new day, having not slept a wink in 4 days, Jay D. Manager, directed me to "Private Breakroom", where I slept for 3 hrs on K-Mart bed, then back at it! We got Set-Up completed week & 3 days early, so for 1st Wk, w/only 3 days open, we just missed Walmart's best store sales, for that week!! Our store topped entire Chain, for better than a year, except for Week, I was Fired, as Walmart Mgr's Guide demanded it! Shorty, a disabled Ex-Sheriff's Deputy had gotten hurt in line-of duty, but fine, "Money Hauler" for us, but one day, I was hustlin' carts, Shorty pickin' up dough w/Cash Cart, but viciously Heart Attacked! Eff the carts, as ran over there fished Shorty's tounge back out, grabbed both guns & Cash Cart, running @ warp speed, while yellin' to Deb, Personnel Gal, "Shorty's down, Call Ambulance", headed for Cash Room! Cash Gals, no open up, so said, "It's your money, do whatever you want w/it!!" I glanced to side when leaving, & smallest Gal had grabbed the dough!! I zipped back thru store, Deb tossed me bottle of H2O, & out w/Shorty! He looked at me, & asked one thing, "Guns"? I answered, "Shorty, the Cash Girls got em', so you'll have to try & get 'em back yourself upon return....oh look, here comes your ride now!! And off Ambulance went w/our friend.... Almost everything I'd done was in conflict w/rules in Walmart Mgr's Guide, so when Jay D. Manager found out, he was missioned to fire me, but few days later, he phoned & asked for my presence, I drove up there about 35 miles, for Official Firing, but Jay just said, "Good to see ya...take a seat". I figured, Asst Mgr firin' me was/t enough, as forgot to kick me in the Jewelry Dept, or some lame thing, but Jay dialed up Walmart's Mecca Bentonville, Arkansas! He asked to speak to who's in Command, & found he was Corporate Mgr, just one step lower than Sam Walton, the Owner. Jay laid out his predicament to the Manager, sayin' "Actually Boss I'm havin' a tough time firin' Erwin, as even though everything he did was against The Manual, he did save the Deputy's life, (door slam) who we'll get back in a week, & Erwin took custody of Shorty's .44 Mag, & .38 Mag leg gun as well. Boss was explaining how firing was necessary, but Sam interrupted 'em right there w/"WTF is going on here, is that for the Lad I had given permission for hire last year??" Boss admitted that I was the one, & Sam yelled at top of lungs, "Shut up AND sit down, is this their Manager Jay, we have on the line here?" Boss must have nodded, as Sam Asked, Jay, has Erwin been fired yet? Jay said, good to hear your voice Mr. Walton, and in answer to your question, he's sorta been fired....by our Asst Manager, as specified in The Manual, but so creepy, I just wanted to know if Management down there, would agree, we're doing the right thing. Sam said, "I'm glad you phoned Jay, as obviously we aren't doing the right thing here. Forget the danged Manual, I'll go thru it personally myself, for a complete update...starting TODAY...& pay Erwin for time & a half"......but Jay broke in w/"Sir, we already pay him Double Time, when Greeter, as Store Sales on average 17% higher, whenever he'll be Greeter, so Time & a half would be a demotion, Sir." Sam said, "Of course....our famous deal to keep you guys #1, so double time it is!! Do you think you'll be able to find Erwin soon, Jay? Jay replied, I'm sure he's around here somewhere, as we only have two Peninsulas in Michigan, Sir!
