I loved that show. You sure had the drive in that video! I would have liked to see some samples of your work in that to better drive the point home. Maybe they were convinced of your passion and your love of movies, but how it translates to actually doing it is probably on their minds when picking the top person for the show. No 25 in the nation is HUGE, so congrats!

bloodsport and jean-claude van damme saved my life. 13 year old me drove my parents nuts for kickboxing lessons, but they sent me to self defence instead. I did well at at it and fast forward to I'm 18 and at college. I'm a little worse for wear and I've gone home with a guy and while he's sleeping, I'm going home, because some of the things he was asking for were out my comfort zone and I was going to get out of there as soon as I could. I've called a taxi and i'm trying to get out the door, but it's locked and I can't find the key. I can get out the window though even though I'm one flight up. I can't even find my underwear, but I've got my dress and my bag and my shoes, i'll put them on one when i'm down the street. So i'm climbing out the window when he wakes up and so i do my self defence and it's not about beating the guy to a pulp, it's about doing enough damage to get away, because most guys are stronger then women and that's just fact. I bust his nose and his nuts, but it gave me enough time to get out the window and down the road to my taxi. I lost some hair, got a black eye and broke my wrist when i hit the ground, but I'm here. So, Bloodsport saved my life.

Thanks, I enjoyed this interview. If I may, here's how I would've enjoyed it even more. 1) Talk less. Much less. You are clearly as knowledgeable as some of your guests, but use that knowledge to draw useful information from your subjects. Watch the pros, the best interviewers on network TV. That's what they do. Instead of showing us that they know the answer before they ask the question, they play dumb (hyperbole) and let their subject shine. 2) Don't finish your subject's sentences. It's irritating to the viewer, not to mention to your subject. 3) Laugh less. It makes you look frivolous.

The Erwin Brothers (especially in the last 6 years) have been able to transcend past their core demographic/target audience. They were the first filmmakers to have a Christian themed 🎥 be shown on IMAX screens with “I Still Believe”. They do the smart thing of not beating you over the head with their messages/beliefs. An additional reason they’ve transcended past their target audience is how their work looks visually. Their experience in music videos helps them immensely because a bunch of their work visually looks gorgeous. And as someone who’s agnostic/borderline atheist I can watch their work and not feel like I’m being preached to.

Matrix is cool and all but Dark City is just a whole 'nother level cool and i hate how Matrix got all the credit, not to mention the theatrical narration that spoils the entire film the studio forced in because they didn't trust the audiences intelligence and yet Matrix didn't have to do that, why? I doubt Alex will see this comment but i can watch Dark City anytime and always enjoy it and no matter what, that final boss fight is still the best, it's like DBZ with epic music.
