@@jimischulz thanks for the response. Your videos are awesome. I’m buying a good carbon paddle soon and have been asking around about paddle size for downwind and finding people having amazing runs and using 640 to 705 size blades. It’s beautiful watching you catch the wave and glide along more than paddle.

@@chrisbeard9113 Thanks for your nice comment! I usually surf about 66% of the time and paddle about 33%! My average heart rate is usually around 100! I try to let the energy of the waves do all the work. Even when I do paddle, I usually just light tick away!

Really nice waves Jim. It's also nice seeing you having to sprint a little more to catch waves than you do for some of those mellow Snohomish waves!

They were big and fast! My plan for the day was to work on paddle blade fast in the water and slow in the air but sometimes you just gotta crank the air rate up!

I didn’t have any paid subscriptions to KZbin so they seem to take my 1080 res videos and down sample them to 720 res even though it says 1080. The videos I upload are aways a bit more in focus.

That does look quite good - you should have done it more than once/okay I see you also did laps? (after the run from Evergreen?) - how many and how much work was the upwind?
@jimischulz4 ай бұрын
Yes it was good! West Point showed 36-38g44. Too windy for laps I was just checking on David. I did that run four times last week on four different days. The Snohomish River ebb tide was working well today with a low 20’s WNW wind. Lots of puffins. To bad I left my camera at home.

I use iKitesurf to know when the afternoon WNW thermal winds are going to blow. I also use it to see when the river is ebbing and when it’s not the middle of the island goes into the flood tide which jacks up the waves a bit. Almost every day May thru September.

I park at the 10th street boat ramp then paddle 3 mins across the river and 3 mins across the island, then paddle 2 miles out to Steamboat Flats marker and surf back in the summer when the wind is usually 20, I do shorter laps in the winter or if its windier and or cold.

the other boat in the video is very interesting! what's on that bow?
@jimischulz Жыл бұрын
He has added some volume to the bow so when its a really big day he doesn't have to lean back in the boat to have the bow go up and over lesser waves when charging downwind. Its hard to paddle hard when leaning back so now he can have good posture which enables him to still paddle hard when charging DW on the big days. Its an older boat that doesn't have much rocker.

Very lucky there wasn't any damage! I had a near crash with a cabinet door hidden behind a wave... Beautiful surfski by the way, perfect match between the two colours and classy.
