This is a gathering stitch right?
@edithcarnley1867
@edithcarnley1867 5 ай бұрын
This is basically a running stitch used to gather the fabric. If you are gathering by machine, then you would use two rows of a straight stitch. The stitch should be of the longest length your machine can do. Also you would not backstitch on the ends and leave long thread tails for pulling on each side. You would pull either the upper or lower threads only to gather.

I am a mathematician but I love to learn to draw, thank you very much for your systematic explanation, and for speaking gently, all of these make your drawing very easy to understand, I hope you are always healthy and happy to serve humanity. With best regards.

Great video! This has really helped me improve on making my croquis. Is it possible if you can make a tutorial on how to draw fashion figures with movement? I’m pretty stuck on how to achieve this. Thanks!

I’m sorry, these videos were done to instruct my class on what to do, so they actually copied the pattern in class. However, you can easily create your own pattern as follows: The head band is 3’’ wide, and the length is your head measurement plus 1”. For example, if your head measures 23” then I would cut the rectangular band, 3” x 24”. The round pattern piece is at a 14” diameter. Tie a cord to a pencil and pin the cord so that it extends 7” to draw a circle. The inner circle is the measurement of your head, for example 23”. Just don’t forget to add ½” for seam allowance, which may take your measurement down 3” to about 20” circumference to cut out the center. I hope this helps.

Can I use this technique to mend a gathered seam?
@edithcarnley1867
@edithcarnley1867 5 жыл бұрын
Rachael McCann, you can definitely use it mend a seam. I have done so plenty of times. After you have gathered the fabric, you will have more control of the fabric to hand sew it or machine stitch it.
