Great build! I’ve done experiments with Dano and Eds 1275 style double necks and you’ve addressed many of the common issues with bass/guitar versions. 100% agree with the bass always at the bottom for comfort and so you don’t hit the guitar headstock playing the bass neck. Your stereo output keeps the controls simple and you can play that one like a Chapman Stick for tapping. Subscribed!

Thanks! It was tricky to arrange. I ended up moving the chorus to the beginning of the song and making it into an intro so there wouldn't be a lot of waiting later.

That's so cool! If you ever think of making another niche but complementary combination, try a Bass VI on top, and a fretless 5-string jazz on the bottom. It gives you the precision highs, and the smooth lows. If you're gonna defret them yourself, you can go Squier for this one again. They make Bass VI's and fretted 5-string jazz's.

Really well done. The only thing I would change is to swap out the guitar humbucker for a white one to get a real Yin Yang kinda vibe.

This is awesome. Ive been considering building a headless version. Save even more weight. Basically my solo project is just like yours but sounds more like el ten eleven. I might just siffice with a 6 string bass tho
@FransvandenBergeMuziekschuurАй бұрын
What tuners did you put on the bass? Looks like Peavey Foundation tuners to me.
@danieljulesАй бұрын
They are the stock Squier tuners from the Mini Precision Bass. They are smaller, lighter, and closer together than normal Fender bass tuners, which is another reason I chose that neck.

Well done, now I’d like to see you make a Stratocaster/Thin Walled Acoustic Guitar doublneck so you can play both electric and acoustic guitar parts without having to switch guitars.
@watahyahknowАй бұрын
cool , if you get a left handed bas neck you can probably tune it eazier (tuners on the bottom)
@danieljulesАй бұрын
Yup, but unfortunately Squier doesn't make a lefty version of this bass...
@GraveltreesАй бұрын
I’m wondering if neck dive could be reduced a bit with pearloid tuning buttons on the Squire and maybe some aesthetically nice shaving down or drilled holes in the bass tuners. Not sure how consequential though.
@danieljulesАй бұрын
Thanks. I thought about trimming the headstocks and moving some tuners to the other side for a 4+2 layout on the guitar and 3+1 on the bass. But I do like that it looks like a Strat so I may not.

@danieljulesАй бұрын
Thanks! I should mention that I bought two of the cheapest Squiers they make. The guitar was about $250 and the bass was around $200. It turns out it was cheaper to buy complete instruments than to buy all the parts separately!

@AltGrendelАй бұрын
My only suggestion would be next time put a slight angle between the necks for better access.
@danieljulesАй бұрын
Yeah, it's a tradeoff. An angle between the necks makes tuning a little easier, but it makes it slower to jump your left hand between the necks during a song...
@ThatMattGoodMusicАй бұрын
Not me now worrying my double neck build which is a Bass and 12 string guitar will be neck dive hell for the 16 tuners on it
@danieljulesАй бұрын
Yeah that will be a challenge. The more you can extend the strap lug towards the headstocks the better. Otherwise you may want to try one of those dual straps which go over both shoulders to balance it.

This was once an idea of many of us to create one, but you must be proud of yourself that you did it. It's a awesome journey to make this beauty. Only i will choose to put the bass above and the guitar beneath wiith a tremelo. Awesome job of you.
@danieljulesАй бұрын
I agree, if you have a 34" full scale bass it probably has to be on top. However, it's also very hard to play barre chords if the guitar is on bottom. My solution was to put a short scale bass on bottom so playing guitar would be comfortable.

My comment was more in regards to the Rickenbacker 4080 doubleneck, which has the bass neck on top, but it's a full scale bass neck, even though Rickenbacker basses have a 33 1/4" scale instead of the more standard 34" you find in Fender basses. Now looking at it better, maybe you should've gone for a left handed bass neck strung right-handed so the bass tuners would be facing down instead of having very little space for your hands to access the tuners.
@danieljulesАй бұрын
Unfortunately Squier doesn't make the Mini Precision in lefty. It looks pretty tight but in fact tuning has been no problem (other than having to keep 10 strings in tune instead of 6).

If you do another take a 51 style P bass an a tele an somehow blend those or the mustang an bronco bass or the jazzmaster/jaguar an jazz bass or the epiphone wilshire model with the newport bass or both the firebird an thunderbird but make it similar in color/look to the thunderbird Krist Novoselic used would be cool to see something like those with the bass neck being slightly long so it can be a bit more straight
