Thanks for posting this! It answered my most burning questions. I think you've just convinced me to buy the Iq3 instead of a sonosite. Just curious. Is the image quality more a function of the probe frequency or the machine itself? I was wondering that for instance, if I bought a sonosite mid grade cart and used it with a high frequency probe, would I get the same image as if I was using that same probe with the top of the line machine?

I have IQ+ and use for radial arterial line placement. Is IQ3 worth the upgrade? Disappointed they increased the yearly fee from $200 to $420 to get biplane mode.

Thanks for your review. I have an Iq + hard case, and i’m a little concerned if this case would fit the IQ3. Hope you can help me.

How is IQ3 compared to GE VScan Air SL in terms of cardiac? Thanks

Thank you for the informative video! Have you used the GE Vscan Air CL for cardiac views? Does the IQ3 compare well to that?

You should compare with Clarius PAL. Butterfly quality is very poor in comparison

Hi! I'm a first year internal medicine resident in Mexico. During the past two years, I have been using POCUS both with hospitalized patients and outpatients in the places Ive worked at. However the hospital where I will be doing my first year of residency does not have a portable ultrasound machine, and the only ultrasound available are exclusivle for the ER and Radiology. Ever since I started using ultrasound I have been thinking about getting one for myself and Id say now would be best to take advantage of it during my stay. My question is, would you recommend saving up more to get the newer IQ3 or should I just go for the IQ+? Thank you, and great video!

Think of it like buying a cell phone- you can save money now, but it will be obsolete sooner. But if you can't afford the iQ3, any ultrasound is better than no ultrasound!

Good tips. Better than the butterfly educational videos. I've had mine for 2 weeks and remain skeptical of it's use in the ICU. You are 100% correct about the probe head size. The difference between that and conventional US probes shouldn't be underestimated (like i did). Positioning the patient and probe can be very difficult in the ICU and as a result, the quality of images leaves a lot to be desired. I frequently will double-check with our conventional US and then triple-check with formal echo. This removes a lot of the convenience factor

Thanks for your video. While it is unfair to compare a $2000 unit with a $70000 unit, I recognize the need for this type of comparison. Can you confirm if your Butterfly is a first generation unit or a second generation Butterfly IQ+?

As an ER and IV nurse, my first experience with them was putting in US guided IV’s, midlines and PICCs. I work at a small critical access hospital, with only 4 full sized units. Convinced my ER director to buy the butterfly and it is an absolute godsend for this purpose. Lugging around the big machines to the other side of the building is a huge hassle over an iPad. The younger PA’s I work have all adopted this for FAST exams exclusively over the larger Phillips unit. Also, in terms of my career I have no doubt that ultrasounds are going to grow to become more portable and affordable as my career goes on - I mind as well get use to them as it’s clearly the future the next decade. In terms of image quality, it absolutely is slightly better on the full sized machines. But, it’s like the differences between a UHD and HD television - still shows you what you need and both are quality. I like the user friendly interface as well on the iPad for the butterfly as well much better as it speeds up work flow.

I'm thinking about getting one of these along with an ipad. Does the IQ work with the ipad in landscape and portrait mode? I would hate to be able to turn the ipad and not be able to have the image turn with it.
@lsantilli
@lsantilli 3 жыл бұрын
@@kirstenfalcone6839 you can change it from landscape to portrait just by turning the iPad as long as the iPad settings you have allow for it to turn at all and isn’t locked. By default they’re not locked. It’s just a very simple setting change if you want to lock the screen flipping. Changing the gain and zoom is much faster and smoother. I do wish with they would make some sort of optional stand when the situation calls for it. My only other small knock on the system is the cord, is a little bit short for my liking. That can generally be worked around because of the portability of the iPad, but nevertheless. I imagine a few generations down the road there will be a wireless one soon. I like I find myself propping it up in pillows and stuff for myself, which is fine - but can be annoying if you have a wiggly patient and they kick it on the floor (even if totally on accident). I typically use a glide scope stand in the room to prop it on for myself.

thanks for doing this - I have always found the iQ images soft and your point about the near field is excellent. I find cardiac imaging almost impossible with the iQ, which is a shame.
