Looks like what Mom used to make. I don't think she used butter, but regardless, will try this soon. Wanted some on my birthday (b&g) but kept forgetting to look it up.

I was never allowed to eat brussel sprouts when I was a kid because my dad didn't like them. I was able to get them two or three times at church potlucks and they were amazing. I may not be an adult yet, but I'm 34 years old now and I just harvested my first crop. they are even better than I remember. I don't see why they get such a bad rap.

The grease from fat back makes delicious gravy. I haven’t ever tried making gravy with butter but it looked good nonetheless. Also let your rue get brown before you add the milk. Love biscuits and gravy.

I don’t clean that well for fermentation. I love the wild microbes. Canning is different

I grew up watching "code name: kids next door" and they hated Brussel sprouts, which I now find funny, mainly because I can make then like this and they taste amazing. I cooked asparagus with butter, salt and pepper first and then I moved over to Brussel sprouts with the same recipe. My mother in law said that they tasted like restaurant quality, my wife also didn't know how good Brussel sprouts or asparagus could be. I'll make them for Thanksgiving and this time I'll add paprika, garlic powder and nutritional yeast.

I wouldn’t add all the milk at once, that takes all the heat out of the pan… add it little by little
