I live in Summerville Cane Bay Plantation/Nexton and my heart drops with the mass deforestation for huge home and apartment communities. Totally overbuilt with dead deer and other animals off the side of the road. People are not happy with the beautiful tree canopy being destroyed and needed for air quality and so much more. Trees are my heart & Soul. Nature❤

Peace be upon you. In my home garden, the sais was grown 15 years ago. During the first 13 years it was good, but in the last two years, the growth of the leaves began to be incomplete. Note that I fertilize it every winter with animal manure or compost, and during the summer with NPK fertilizer. Help us❤

Hi Laura. We are currently planning a small reopening celebration of Moultrie Playground in coordination with The City of Charleston this fall. We do not have a date at this time, but you can follow us on Facebook and Instagram @charlestonparks for regular updates and more information on the ribbon-cutting.

Wonderful plans for this historic site! It is an honor to acknowledge St. Julian Divine, who served on City Council in the late 60s-mid 70s... also to acknowledge Pug Ravenel's love of Charleston. I worked on his campaign in the early 70s and harbored the highest of regard for him and his ingenuity! Great work, as always, Jason Kronsberg and Harry Lesesne!

Any advice that you can offer about Hot Lips salvia would be appreciated. I bought 2 approx. 6 weeks ago, but they are struggling now. I've finally transplanted them into the ground but feel that they probably need to be pruned to refocus the plant's energy on establishing a root system. How far down should I prune them?
@CharlestonParksConservancy5 жыл бұрын
We recommend pruning them by half. Best of luck!

Greetings from the Upstate of SC. Wish I’d discovered this video before Christmas. Next year I’ll do my own paperwhites inside. I’d heard that bulbs grown with only water were weaker and less likely to survive being planted outdoors once they finished their blooming cycle? Is that true?🌷
@CharlestonParksConservancy6 жыл бұрын
"In my experience, they transition to the garden environment easier when grown in one of the commercial soil mixes we all have access to in the marketplace. When they are planted out in the garden, their roots are not disturbed like they are when grown in water. Remember, once the flowers are finished, the plant is programmed to make energy to form new buds deep within the bulb for next year. Get them in the ground as soon after they flower, weather permitting." - Jim
@botanicaltreasures24086 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your answer. Useful to know. I’ll use soil instead of water for my own indoor bulb plants since I want to put them in the landscape when they are finished blooming. However, the bulbs in water method is really striking. Ideal for gifts, for those who just want a long lasting, but temporary floral display. 🌷

Sometimes I feel bad to prune ,because I see a lot of insects flying around probably eating something from the flowers.and if I do that pretty much I'm taking their food away.😢

Can you grow these from cuttings from the plant without taking any root? My sister just gave me some branches that she cut off today, and so I am wondering if that will work.
