They are different. Porpora is a smokey Rose with spices supported by a fresh patchouli with slight floral fruity sweetness. It's beautiful. Last on my old dry skin 8+ hours. POAL is a patchouli dominant fragrance. The patchouli is strong, loud and rough. To me it's a spicey patchouli with a small Rose, a drop of sweetness and the ammonia black current note in the background. Unfortunately it doesn't last on my skin ( 3 hours) I blind bought both. I love Porpora, I like POAL because I like patchouli.

Also I dont feel people maybe associate fragrance as something worthy of being viewed as a collection. They tend to maybe look at pieces of art etc, that stand tests of time and you can keep for a lifetime. So we may identify it as a collection but generally I feel others may judge, or not think its anything other than addiction. I dont really discuss mine with anyone because they will either outwardly or inwardly judge, and im not looking to draw negativity to something that I enjoy and is personal to me .

Thank you for this. I blacked out 😂 and purchased over $1K of fragrances over Black Friday (some were gifts for others, some for me). Watching all of this minimalism talk on YT had me feeling bad. But you’re right…life is hard right now, so whatever brings you joy should not be villainized. If your bills are paid and you aren’t hurting anyone, what’s the harm in enjoying shopping and collecting?

I definitely don’t have an actual addiction but I definitely get the kick of something new, that excitement and seek it out often even when I know I shouldn’t. Not to the detriment of my family or anything but it does make me feel guilty.

One Christmas my husband bought me a large, beautiful bookcase to store and display my collection. I took a picture after getting it set up and because I was proud, I posted it to my Facebook. You would have thought I’d announced that I was a raving lunatic. Nobody bats an eye if you say you collect stamps, coins, etc…but people were asking, “why do you need so much? That’s crazy!” This is what I enjoy. This is what makes me happy. And dammit! I ALWAYS smell good!

ive never considered myself addicted to perfumes and I hope more people see their collections as something they curate and get joy put them. if you go too far or your tastes change have a system for clearing them whether youre generous and gift them or sell them.

I do think some of these creators have an addiction but it may also be because they are trying to be influencers and each bottle makes them relevant... I recently watched a video where a creator said at one point she skipped meals in order to buy a perfume. that's unhealthy and toxic. but I agree a lot of us have collections. most viewers don't have a perfume room and if they do they still aren't trying to own every perfume in alphabetical order. how you perceive your items can be the difference between the shame of an addiction or joy of a collection
