I’m sure it was not easy making this tribute video, nice work Eric. Very sad and I was shocked to hear the news. I got a text from Kirk about Stuart’s passing and couldn’t believe it. He was a super nice, down to earth guy and I always enjoyed talking to him whether it was out on the trail or just at the parking lot of Windrock. Rest in peace Stuart, may you continue twisting throttle in heaven! ✊🏻

Great tribute to one of the most selfless people Ive ever met. He was so patient with us all. We were slow, nervous, under skilled, or just plain fell when we shouldnt have. He guided us through those trails as if we were his grandkids. Never got mad, bored, or in a hurry. He was always just happy to be riding, no matter what the conditions. He was always so humble and easy going. I hope he knew how much he meant to us.

Semis trying to come through the "Tail of the Dragon" wasn't such a common issue, maybe a stray coming through every now and then, but ever since the disaster in WNC, we have been flooded with them. NCHP started a campaign to stop them before they ever reached the 2 lane, then google maps marked the road closed but that scared off tourists to the area thinking that the area was inaccessible to all traffic so they started showing the roads open like normal so here they come again. THP and Blount Sheriffs in TN have been diligently patrolling at the lake entrance to get them turned around before they enter so most of the truckers now are coming from NC. We have stopped a few at the Deals Gap store if we were standing out there when they pulled up to the crossroads. Darrel with Killboy pictures started escorting them back towards to Robinsville to avoid any head on collisions before Cheoah Dam.

Semi/Tractor Trailers are supposed to be banned on that road. I remember years ago when apps like map quest would show shortcuts over the dragon. Semis would be directed to that road with similar or even disastrous results.

Truckers are using google maps instead of commercial gps which doesn't warn them of the restrictions but there are signs for miles before they get to the really gnarly stuff.

You can adjust your throttle sensitivity. It feels smoother than than the OEM map.
@relyt_gnast
@relyt_gnast 3 ай бұрын
@BigEbikesports shit, didn't even think about adjusting the throttle sensitivity. I like the idea of buying a separate ecu instead of flashing the oem one. I know aprilia can see if the ecu is flashed and they can deny warranty claims. I'm curious if they'd be able to tell if there was a race ecu installed, if an issue were to ever arise.
@BigEbikesports
@BigEbikesports 3 ай бұрын
@@relyt_gnast I had issues with my oem ecu, it was too sensitive and causing the "urgent service" message. Ever since I installed my race ecu from AF1, all my issues went away. From what I heard it does not affect your warranty as far as engine mechanical but prob won't cover emissions which I deleted anyway.
@relyt_gnast

Too many comments here about skills and conditions…. what about judgement? Test your skills (and improve them) on track days, not on the road. Road the Dragon 20 years ago, two up with my wife on my Hayabusa…. we were careful, my wife still got seasick with all the turns!😊I can only imagine how much worse it is now with all the traffic and squids.

Keep the ego in check, ride at your own capabilities and stay below what you believe are your own limits and you'll be fine. Keep in your own lane, use the pullovers when faster people come up on you cars/bikes and never get target fixation here.. target fixation here can kill you, look thru that corner into the side of the hill and don't stop
