im terrified of big and fast spiders. But this thing is a beuty. Golden colored spider with the web itself gold. Id actually keep that as a pet. I wouldn't handle it tho as it's apparently venomous

Orb weavers are venomous as all spiders are (with the exception of one family) but their venom is harmless to people and will only mildly hurt like a bee sting for an hour or so. Not to mention orb weavers are VERY unlikely to bite as they never adapted to have to use it as defense bc they are always elevated in their webs. (They'd obviously bite if you're squishing it against your skin though)

Its an orb weaver spider and completely harmless, their venom is only strong enough to take down small insects

These spiders are amazing, i had a smaller one on my verandah here in nth qld..and i saw 4 zig zag closely spun webs around the spider within the web itself..i wondered what they use it for..so i found a dead cricket bigger than the spider and threw it at the nest..in a blink of an eye that cricket was wrapped up..with what i call the emergency web as one of the closely woven zig zag pieces was gone...hard to explain,but i learnt something new and wanted to share it...
