I've got a picture of that Phantom, blown up to a 20 x 30 poster, hanging up on the wall, here in my house.

My dad worked on these when he was in the Navy in the late 60's and loved them. Best Blue Angels ever!

Was Marine Air F-4J radar tech back in '76-'79. Did the first cruise on the USS Nimitz (a '76 seven month Med) We were the front line flag ship against the Soviet Union. after we got back we sent off our Phantons for the AWG-10A digital upgrade and smokeless J-79's weird that a lot of euro's still had the smokers. 🤔

That for me was all I needed to feel alive again, I really enjoy these video, thanks to all the corp and millionaires that can afford these aircraft without your interest us commoner couldn't enjoy these demonstrations of flight from these beautifully crafted aircraft.

I spent 7-1/2 years in the Air Force. Most of my stations were at SAC bases so most of what I saw was B-52s and KC-135s. It was fun to watch those take off. On occasion, a squadron or two of sexy looking fighters were flown in from Florida to be safe from Hurricanes. When I was sent to Vietnam my base was hit by rocket fire. I was in a large day room at the time and followed others to large windows to watch F-4s fly by to hit the area the rockets originated from on a hill far away. But the most thrilling time was when I was in the northern most base (fairly close to the southern border from North Vietnam). The earth shook one time, accompanied with very loud cannon fire. I was told it was a huge cannon known at Big Bertha. One night I was alone in my hooch laying down and staring at the ceiling, wondering what I would do if a rocket hit there and less than 5 minutes later, a noise do loud that my whole body went straight up and my arm instantly found a metal pipe and swung me over the side to find myself on the floor, under it. But by far the most thrilling time was at night when I was driving my jeep close to a runway. There were F4s getting ready for takeoff. I got out and walked as close as I could to the chain link fence There I watched in amazement as the F4s went by with a thunderous roar and in the dark, those long fiery afterburners pushing it by me at a quickened pace were so awesome to behold. I'll never forget it.

Does anyone know what happened to 38+13? Did she find a museum home or did she meet her fate in the salvage yards?

Ich danke den Menschen, die die Idee zur Mc Donald Douglas F 4 Phantom hatten und sie auch erschaffen haben. Ich darf wohl sagen, es gibt wenige Flugzeugtypen, die so sicher sind und sich unter härtesten Bedingungen bewährt haben. Ursprünglich als bordgestuetzten und nur mit Raketen bestückten Abfangjaeger für die US Navy gedacht fand sich dieses Fighting Aircraft auch in der Jagdbomber und Aufklärer Rolle wieder. Ich werde sie bei jeder Luftwaffe vermissen. 😔

Is it possible those J79's smoke less at full throttle?

Da sieht man mal was die Phantom so Drauf hat. Wenn ich zufällig am Zaun gestanden hätte, dann würde ich vor lauter Staunen meinen Mund gar nicht mehr zumachen können. Wahre Helden die Testpiloten aus Manching. Hätte man am 29 Juni 2013 auch beim Tag der offenen Tür in Wittmund Vorführen können. Aber ich denke das war wohl Bestimmt aus Anlass des offiziell letzten Fluges der F- 4F Phantom II in Manching. Sehr schöne Aufnahme von dir. So kann man das Spektakel in lebhafter Erinnerung behalten. Wenn ich mich an den Flyout der Phantom am 15 Dezember 2005 auf unserem Fliegerhorst in Hopsten zurückerinnere, Dann hätte so eine Rattenscharfe Abschlussvorführung auch wohl gemacht werden sollen. Ich glaube ich hätte mich sehr gefreut Darüber.

Oh, ein Düsenflugzeug, und was für eines...die gute alte F4/Phantom...was hat DIE schon Feinde erschreckt...und die Farbe passt auch - Hammergeiles Video !!! DANKE für diese fantastische Arbeit !!! Also Music is Epic.

Number one problem with the F-4 that was never fixed during it's US military service was that damned smoke trail that occurs during every pre-afterburner sequence. Other nations have since replaced the waning turbofan engines with much more efficient ones that DO NOT leave a smoke trail a mile long while lighting afterburners. The replacement engines DO NOT burn kerosene like the originals did. They use the more modern aviation grade fuel which leaves very little if any smoke trail.
