My home girl uses soundtrap and she makes damn good music 😂 I was shocked at the clarity of her beats being a FL studio user for years . Man have DAWs came a long way

This is a useful video. It is a prime example of fad ambition leading to a rookie also trying to be a reviewer before he has researched a product and, it seems, the context of recording to a DAW. In the absence of examples of his music we have no clue as to whether he has any aptitude or just wants to be a You Tube A.N. Other. So many prefer the 'occupation' to actually working at any job or jobs. Perhaps in the year since the video was posted Mr Rascon has gained a modicum of elementary experience. Actually I have temporarily subscribed so I can see what other things he has posted. Give-aways of his limited experience are:- 1) wearing cans before switching on or plugging in anything. Others have chastised the young man about this and been informative; 2) evident failure to read the manual -- on several counts but especially using a wrong knob to achieve a result when gain and volume/amplitude are different things; 3) moaning about picking up the damned thing with 1 hand he evidently has 2 (hence allegedly playing a Les Paul guitar); 4) saying that he is from "a third world country"; this expression is anachronistic thus he is implying a degree of poverty which is inconsistent with his alleged instruments and experience with high-end studio gear; 5) accusation of false advertising: what is stated as a generality about a product might not apply to all cases and citing 'humbucker' noise exhibits less than little knowledge of double banked opposed pole guitar pickups history and middle school magnetic fields studies; 6) Presonus specializes in studio equipment and monitoring and prices in its range vary accordingly, with discernible and clear grades or steps fitting use scenarios. The company has attracted praise from studio users, even at the lower end, for separating MIDI channels from common ones and phantom from straight-through. Limiters are built in but if users do not read manuals carefully and cause damage have themselves to blame except in some cases and this particular company has a good technical service record, at least in Europe. There are differences between actual studio work, home 'studio' growing experience, wannabe level ambitions as opposed to achievement and making "review" videos like this one from a position of incompetence and fantasy. BUT the You Tube $ is attractive to some before all other considerations. This is why the video here is useful.

Just do yourself a favor and avoid this thing..... it's a complete gamble. Yes, there are those for whom it has been reliable, but there are many (including myself) who've only had nightmares. Constant popping, crackling, snapping on Win 7 and Win 10. The hardware itself seems well-built, but PreSonus NEVER completely figured out all the driver issues for this thing....... rendering it a $100 doorstop for many. I finally just reverted back to my trusty old M-Audio Fasttrack, which has never given me a single issue within the exact same setups that the AudioBox caused only misery. So much for recording two mics at once, but at least I'm crackle free again.

Hey Adrian, hermano, pero no entendí. Dijiste que la interfaz no es muy bueno con guitarras pero más adelante dices que la usas con tu guitarra. Es mejor comprar una focusrite?
@Adrian_13 күн бұрын
Hola!

This guy is griping about things that happen with ALL AUDIO HARDWARE. A popping noise when you turn it on? That's the voltage hitting the unit, genius. This is ridiculous.

I had the same problem with recording instrument level signals (guitar/bass, etc). It's impossible to get it not to clip on my bass, EVEN when the gain is COMPLETELY down. This interface is otherwise fine, but do not buy this interface if you have instruments with hot pickups. It is not suitable for active pickup instruments, and will not work well at all. It's a shame, because it's otherwise alright for the price.

Yes, that's how you're actually supposed to use amp sims, with headphones or studio monitors.

YO i dont know if you still reply. But i have the issue that after doing the second option with the vital synth. it just plays both the sounds wiothout actually any vocoding going on. Though the sounds i hear are altered slightly like there is filtering. This is after the pre fader step. The first part without the synth works just fine, as in just using the vocoder plugin as the synth itself

Definitely think soundtrap is meant for noobies, as someone who has only ever used soundtrap, it was very intuitive and made a lot of sense. To me, other daws look quite confusing.

This kind of setup works best if your amp has an effects loop. Plug the interface into the return jack of the effects loop.

Bullshit. Been using my 96 to listen to music files and record vocal and instruments to my DAC with zero issues or problems for nearly a decade (and so have many commenters below). So, I'm supposed to take audio advice from someone who puts on headphones and then plugs in, and then complains about the noise it makes ? - DON'T PLUG IN WHILE WEARING HEADPHONES - (a thing you learn when you're 14). And making this noob mistake (and then complaining about it) makes me doubt anything else you have to say. Well done.

This is a great review--I appreciate the detail you put into this. Admittedly, I do not own the 96. I own the original, Audiobox USB. I also, don't use the instrument jacks in the face. I only use the Audiobox as a DAC for my PC, which feeds a headphone amplifier, so I don't listen directly off the Audiobox either. HOWEVER, I did replace the electrolytic capacitors that reside directly in the signal path (between the primary DSP IC and the output OpAmps, as well as between the output OpAmps and the 1/4" output jacks, four in total on my old non-96) with film capacitors. The increase in fidelity is not something you have to try to hear, but is night and day obvious. I suddenly heard sounds in the program material that I didn't even know existed in my favorite music all these years. I could hear details, such as the dreaded vibrating of guitar strings against the forward fret (that ugly, mistaken rattle) or the actual timbre of wood-bodied instruments, voices in the background of tracks, increased soundstage and imaging, etc. Even the bass was deeper and clearer from infrasonic to... well, I want to say subsonic, but I think that will create an argument. Anyway, I essentially had to listen to my entire music library all over again because I wanted to hear what I had been missing. It made me appreciate music I don't even care for that much because I could suddenly discern all the work the recording engineer must have put into it. The only caveat about my original Audiobox is that I cannot have it hooked up before booting my PC. If I have it hooked up, and I try to play music, I will hear ultra-loud, distorted material that sounds more like when you try to play the first data track of a written CD in a CD player. I must plug the unit in after the PC has booted to avoid this. Now, this could just be something unique to my Supermicro motherboard or something to do with my Corsair power supply. I don't really know. Otherwise, it sounds fantastic. Even before I modded it, it sounded better than my Schiit DAC.
