Next time just use some lighter petrol the type you use to fill zippo lighters up! The sticky will just disappear!

Very informative! However: Distress Crayons contain significantly less color per unit than Slick Stix and cost a LOT more (keeping the smaller amount of color per unit in mind when calculating cost). Some of us really need to keep that in mind, and get very good with subtle blending techniques to compensate for a more limited range of colors in the Slick stix.

Man, this video came out at just the right time. And I'm sure I have seen this technique in one of your courses. However, I am currently working on a project where I am looking for crackle appearance in the background. I knew exactly which stencil I wanted to use, but as I laid it down on my piece I said to myself that it didn't look right. Then a lightbulb went off. No, I said. This needs to be a reverse stencil technique. It is exactly how my brain was envisioning it. LOL Thanks for the serendipity lesson. 🙂

So is there a particular type of brayer I need? And you don’t roll over the blank paper, you just press it on the gelli plate?

I can add another way of ruining a plate! I stored my plate with a piece of foam sheets and it made the plate completely sticky. Impossible to use for printing. However I am now using it for my copper (batik) stamps as a stamp cushion

Tape adhesive gets stickier with age. I buy up tapes at estate sales because in some projects, I need very sticky tape.

Hi Carol, I have been following you for a while and love your videos. Instead of using the medium that you demonstrated with. Is it possible to use mod podge. I want to do this with my students. I thought this would make a great project for holiday gifts that my students can give to family members.

How about fabric cut the same way as your paper, wrapped around the Pool Noodle. How is the Powertex different from ModPodge, please? Thanks so much @CarolynDube!

@CarolynDube

This is a fabric hardner so once it fully cures, it is solid and the bottle says it's waterproof. I have found Mod Podge to be a bit sticky/tacky even when it's fully dry and this stuff is not at all. You can use it on fabric - it turns that fabric solid! Be aware it did "darken" the fabric a bit when I used the translucent. Hope that helps.

can you use the hardened universal medium by adding color to it or an image by adding more medium to front and back of image and putting it on dry layer. your mind is amazing
@CarolynDube
@CarolynDube 3 ай бұрын
You absolutely can mix dry pigments into the universal medium to color it. Not sure exactly what you're asking about the front and back but when it's dry, you can put another layer on top of it easily. Hope that helps!

Very very late to party but just “discovered” tempera paint sticks (12 pack of colors) at a cute little bookshop while on vacation. Bought them because they were something I didn’t have and fell in love with them! I bought more sets from Amazon and am having a ball with them, this idea with the stamps is great! 👍🏻
