I just found out yesterday that if I take the back swing with the club is outside I am more able to take the down swing inside while aiming slightly left otherwise I come over the top

You can see that once he takes a full swing his elbows come off his body! Jack Nicklaus had a fying elbow and did pretty well with it. Still, Hogan's was one of the greatest swings in the history of the game!

Who is he telling this to, and is he passing on advice or securing his own swing thoughts?

if someone would have gotten through to him and told him/restricted him from all HEAVY weightlifting and told him he couldn't work with any swing coach besides butch Harmon (and his dad), he would have won 25 majors (minimum).

I have surgically repaired left shoulder from my time in the military, so all I can do is a half swing. I had know idea why he did, but it makes perfect sense. I’m more consistent with the half backswing than I was when I had a full backswing before that surgery! I definitely don’t hit the ball as far as I did, but it is nice to know where it’s going🤣🤣

1:07 What is missed in this clip to that the swing is not a swing. The swing is down but not back. You play the club where you want the club to fall from. That’s why Butch talks about a position where the club just falls. The feeling should be straight as the curve happens because of rotation. You must let it “fall”. 1:29 The backswing is a take not a swing. Tiger said it out loud 🙏🏿

I saw something recently where they put Hogan’s swing on the swing analyzer somehow and recorded his driver swing at 133 mph. I think in his heyday Tiger was averaging about 118mph.
@clm65221 күн бұрын
Fake news. Tiger swings at around 128 to 130 mph. It's well documented. He's arguably the most documented golfer ever to live, very ez information to find out.

All I know is this. Ever since I started to grip it like this, now for 1 year. I'm completely consistent . My routine is more in front of me with same grip, but I find it for me. To set up behind my line, then I grip square it. And just commit no, re routing fingers anymore, just hold it. It's something else. Believe. But you just have to commit. Like AScott said. It feels weird like open faced but it's not. Just excited to share, some tips just really do work.

would Hogan's (or Julius Boros) swing still work on the pro tour today? It seems so different than the violent swings of Tiger or Rory. It was geared towards courses of 6800 yards, not the 7500 monstrosities of today. Even Couples' smooth swing has his hand position so high at the top of the swing, allowing for 300 yd drives. I think Sam Snead transported to the year 2020 could compete, not sure about Hogan.
@thedadyouneverhad20232 ай бұрын
Interesting discussion - did they ever measure his club head speed? Smooth is fast and being loose creates a lot of hinge which really whips through. Be fun to see him play Tiger/Rory/Bryson with his equipment!
@jefffawcettАй бұрын
Of course he could. That swing? With modern equipment? He’d be great. And those violent swings of Tiger and Rory scatter the ball all over the place
@spankfugslide19 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t call Rory’s swing violent at all. Athletic yes, but it’s a thing of beauty. Never off balance, rhythmical and extremely accurate for such a long hitter. I think Mr Hogan would very much approve

All due respect to Sergio, but what he says he does and what he actually does are different. He is using his body to pull the arms down and he lowers his body as well. Look at the slow motion. Feel ain’t real.

I thought I’d solved this until I watched a video , I hadn’t solved anything, Club still behind me , I’m one peice at the start , then I’m bowing left wrist , Still going behind me , I’m routing it down nicely , making good but not always consistent strike , And I don’t like the look of it , kinda driving me crazy
