How do the strings line up with the magnets? I hear these are narrower than regular fender pickups?

Checking TAD website says this amp was using E34L's not EL34's although they are interchangeable. I'm going to try them. I find my DSL40CRC Guitar Center Limited Edition in Cream Tolex with the Celestion made for Marshall Vintage to be fizzy when using the ultra gain channel.. also just bought a 12AX7 ecc823 to put in the V1 to tame the fizz.

I don't think Korean G&B pickups are that bad as Chinese pickups... But of course there is better options out there like Duncans and Dimarzios

When you bias do you turn the amp on as normal but lower the master volume to zero? I understood that you set it to high power but that's all you mentioned. Many thanks

These are both very solid pickups, but I prefer the JB. I find it has the right blend of brightness and smoothness. I think the EVH is just a bit too spiky. I've been using JBs since 1986, when I got Kramer Baretta in which the JB came stock. I've owned a lot of pickups but always gravitate back to the JB. It just works so well with every genre and playing style. It's a pickup that's grown with me through all the years.

Great advice. I never attempt to adjust.action because I don't have the guitar string height measuring tool. When I take in my Les Paul for a set up and have it restrung I end up paying 6-10 bucks for strings as I usually buy them in bulk and get the cost pretty low. Then I end up paying $100 for a truss rod adjustment and the tune-o-matic bridge adjustment (which is obviously far less labor intensive than the saddle adjustment on a strat style bridge. Don't get me wrong, it always plays great but I believe that within a handful of adjustments it is something I can accomplish in 15 -25 minutes. I just can't just the $300 when I bring in my SG and 2 Les Paul's every 3-4 months

Yes, one must admit that the engineers at Ibanez definitely know how to make extremely usable products that are ready to go right out of the box and even with their lowest tier models too. No doubt about it.

i bought one used and its a hot guitar. the neck pickup Ohms are 15.5 and the bridge is lower at 10.5. That blew me away. Thing shreds. Makes me wonder why they swapped pups or if it came that way.

you know that multimeter's leads has caps on them right? You can take them off and they'll fit inside those holes for bias checking way better. DSL40CR is a cool amp for sure!

i own the frankenstein and the 78 model. The 78 model cleans better and has more grain when you push the distortion. I think if you are looking for something nasty but which cleans well the 78 model is better than the frankenstein. The 78 model is almost a copy of the es-335 paf that was in the black and white frankie. The only difference is that it was short alnico V instead of long alnico 2 : Seymour duncan can't sell the exact real deal unfortunately.
@ruggie.74

what do you mean SD can't sell the real deal?
@patrickwilliams2530
@patrickwilliams2530 7 ай бұрын
@@ruggie.74 well when Seymour began to sell the 78 model they called it the Duncan custom and Eddie gave a phone call to Seymour Duncan telling him to stop or he would come with the lawyers and a lawsuit. Seymour knew he couldn’t sell the exact same thing so he just made a variant which sounds close. The magnet isn’t the same as the original and the construction of the pickup too. The 78 model is the closest copy of the humbucker which was in the Frankie in the 78 album. When Eddie began to use the Floyd rose he changed the humbucker and used what fender calls the Frankenstein humbucker. It was used for fair warning and women and children first.

I think they put as much expense as possible into the rest of the guitar and “cut cost” on the pickups given pickups are often changed. I just got a new S2 McCarty 594 singlecut for $1400 from the CME. Given all the hardware is the same as the core and the main difference is the wiring and pickups and thickness of the top of which I prefer the carve of the S2, I don’t mind changing that for 1/3 the price (1400 vs 4700 for a core). Also consider PRS sells their pickups for $500 which is 25% the list price of a S2. Is it a “bummer”, I guess, but maybe I’m just not phased by it because I went into it eyes wide open

You did a great job, Tom! I really like that you A/B'd the pickups clean in all pickup combinations. I tend to play clean & it was very helpful to hear the differences between the pickup sets without distortion. I was surprised at how close Infinity humbuckers & the Seymours were to each other! Thanks for taking the time to create this video.

Hi, i just tried switching the amplifier/power board in 2 of my eon 612's, and i still get very little volume combined with no bass at all. I have tested the woofers, and they are fine and measure within spec. Is there any tips you could share with me, in my process of finding out exactly whats wrong?

The guitar with original pickups is quite good already; I also like that it has only two knobs instead of four, which is much simpler to operate. Four is too much.

Not an issue on the A string. It is not threaded through the tailpiece correctly. Also not a bad place to put the strap button. Very very common with arch tops.

Just bought a used/mint pair of 612’s….. They were up and running just fine with a Mackie mixer on the first gig. Second gig not so much. Did the factory reset as indicated by JBL three times and still had some issues. Could barely hear the 12” speaker but not the HF. Hoping it’s not a PCB issue this time. Thank you for an excellent presentation and info. 🔉
