@Officialadamandarthur, hey. As far as I know, maps can be played both on consoles and PC. But since I'm not much of a console gamer, I guess I can't be the source of truth. But all those maps use the same things as any other in FS, so if consoles support custom maps, those should work too. But idk which map sizes consoles support.

@@sprawl1 hey. Just generated it for the same coordinates , and can clearly see the difference in the terrain. Please check out the docs. Also pay attention to the messages in UI when you enabling or disabling some options.

@@iwatkot Tryed with a docker. Only select FS22, 8km map, and coordinates. The preview images shows that there is some terrain leveling in image, but when opening in Giant editor 9.0.6 -> its completely flat in editor

@@iwatkot If I opened it correctly with GE, I just moved the trees and saved. Compressed the folder in ZIP to put it in my fs25 mods. The map appears in my installed mods, but I can't select the map to start a game. (I'm new to mapping 😄)

@lesbfagris4285 it's hard to say. Enable debugging console and you will see will see what's wrong if you can get into the loading screen. If you can't go to the loading screen that means you packed it wrong.

Hey man, great tutorial. Just wanted to ask if there is an easy way to fix the trees. Problem is that every tree is on the same y-value, which leads to the trees either floating in the air, or being under the map. Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

just messed around with this again would be even more aewsome if it gave us a map guide aswell so we can just insert a plane in GE then scale it to our map size then import the image of our map location just so we can use it as guideance when mapping

In the editor when I fly out (I guess 3/4 of the map) The screen turns black because the border in the editor, do you know how to increase the range? Thanks in advance :) PS: Does anyone know an easy way to plant trees on the areas like they are in reallife simlpe by script or something? I heard the tree creator got updated but still doesnt work quite right.

Great tutorial and realy hope you give us more on this. I've got the following error within Giants editor: Error: Shape 'FULL' with id 1 from 'background.i3d.shapes' is too big (27655 KB). Maximum supported size is 16384 KB. How can I get it to reduce the size? The map size is 4km by 4km

With QGIS, the quickmap services i only got nasa and OSM. If i want to install a google plugin i need API and also setup something in python so this isn't working for me. Been trying alot of tuturials to create a real DEM and border terrain but it's not so easy. Also, i noticed the terrain i pick is always oriented north up but i should need to rotate this a little bit. This seems not possible in your maps4fs? Or is possible in the local version? I only tried the web version, no need to try the local version if i can't even get qgis to work 😅

Just refer to the tutorial, and it will be fine. About the rotation: this feature is not available yet, but it's in the queue for upcoming features. If you're interested in it, join the Discord channel, I have a devlog there and a list of To-Do's.

ℹYou need to set a MUCH HIGHER value for the decimate modifier. Something like 0.05. Because the automatic simplification in the tool was removed, you'll get the huge mesh, with millions of vertices.

@thelunatic5, hey! Yep, it takes a while. It depends on the hardware and the map size. For me, at 4 km maps, it takes approx. 2 minutes. If your PC can't handle it, you can set the "MAP_UNITS_PER_PIXEL": 1 value in the script to a higher one. But this will also lead to the lower quality of the output image.

@HOLZMEISTER_BENEDIKT, hey! As I said in the video, the fields should exist on the www.openstreetmap.org. So, first of all, go there and check if there are any fields in your ROI. It's two first entries in the FAQ: github.com/iwatkot/maps4fs/blob/main/docs/FAQ.md Also, make sure that they are correctly defined as Polygons with the tag "landuse": "farmland" github.com/iwatkot/maps4fs/blob/main/README.md#Supported-objects If they are not, then you need to create them by yourself, but it's very simple, like using the Paint or something, not like in GE. :D If they exist on OSM and are correctly defined, please report it in the Discord channel or by creating the issue in the GitHub repo. @HOLZMEISTER_BENEDIKT, and regarding the width of the roads. OSM mostly does not have the actual size of the roads, it's just lines. So when generating the textures the tool uses some pre-defined width values for different kinds of roads. Learn more about it in README: github.com/iwatkot/maps4fs/blob/main/README.md#texture-schema The parameter you're interested in is the: width - the width of the texture in meters.

It's a lot of things you need to know about the modding, but most of them are not related to the maps4fs. Hey! I'm not sure I understand what you're talking about. The tool itself adds all required objects including fields as textures on the map, it's a main feature of it. Hey! If you're asking about the heightScale parameter, you can find it in the Terrain tab of the terrain object in the Attributes window. Or if the question is more general, the terrain in GE uses the DEM image in the data folder. You can learn more about it in the README.

Whenever it will be released, I'll made required changes in a couple of hours (days) and the generator will support FS25.

This is an incredible project that truly deserves 100x more attention. For several months, I’ve been trying to create a DEM file using available DMR 5G data, which offers an impressive vertical accuracy with a root mean square error of 0.18 m in open terrain and 0.3 m in forested areas. Unfortunately, I haven’t been successful yet. It wasn’t until now that I stumbled upon your project, and I must say, it really impressed me. I believe it would receive much more attention if it were easier to find. I managed to come across this tutorial only after sifting through countless articles and videos.

Hey! There are no problems with the messenger itself, it was a problem with hosting of the bot: it ran out of space on a disk. Now it's up and running, thanks for reporting the issue. Just a little disclaimer: this happens because it's running on a cheap hosting and as stated in GitHub README, here's a little information about this for future questions: As I said before this is related to the hosting limitations, if you want you can always run the tool locally or support the project by donating, so maybe I'll be able to afford better hosting.
