I literally use the default lol. I play with a PS5 controller, so all of our hotbars are hidden by default and we can switch between them at any time. If there's any advice I'd give to players using the same layout, is change the enemy health to show as a percentage. Everything else is already neatly tied away. I used to play with a large cast bar, but I found it too distracting. The default size is good enough for me.

The only way to fix piety is to completely re-do how squeenix does substats. At the moment, every fight is entirely clearable with 0 piety and 0 tenacity no sweat. This essentially means that the only *non-dmg* stat that people 'want' is speed, and even then that is basically just for aligning GCD timers with abilities for the most part. So you basically have two options for how to fix this issue. Make piety/tenacity/some new stats all but mandatory to clear fights so that there are actual decisions that need to be made with regards to gearing up your character with dps being a luxury you have to figure out how to maximise, or just remove substats entirely since the only thing people care about is raw dmg so why even bother with them.

I feel like one of the biggest issues with piety is that it's almost useless when you're doing high-end content but it's almost necessary if you're doing normal content with randoms. They can't just drop it as a stat because there would be a lot of times where people would just run out of MP in normal content just trying to rez and GCD heal their party through the content. And I know that the common response I'm probably going to get is people saying to just leave any instance thats like that but thats a seperate issue

Want bigger numbers? Play a DPS. Piety needs to add to Healing Potency. If anything, healers can easily meet any dps requirements currently set for them - even in FRU.

Yeah... Damage is the name of the game for pretty much every jobs. Unless they nerf healing across the board, Piety giving a buff to healing potency would be just as useless as it is now because healers already do more than enough heal with what they have now and damage increase would still be a lot better than healing increase

healing is solved. the only meaningful stat increase is DPS. when all healing is trivilized to oGCD healing outside of specific points in a fight, piety has virtually zero reason to exist outside of proggression. it's not a matter of doing gear min/maxing tradeoffs when you have the fight on farm, there's legitimately zero choices to make in terms of gear

I’m actually of the opinion that Piety should increase healing potency, and at a significantly higher rate than DET. This is because it’s a progression stat. Making it better at your active role when you’re undefeated encourages you to use piety until you are at a point where the damage is needed. Plus it’s clear Square isn’t balancing around piety as a damage stat it is a much easier justification to make.

Nah, you basically nailed it with this one. Even if we're stuck in the Tenacity Trap it's better than what Piety is right now. You're totally right that it's stupid that gear that's ten item levels lower outparses and outperforms Savage and Augmented tomestone gear.

What I would do, is that I would turn DET into a DPS-only stat, and then grabbing copy-pasting DET's stat values into Tenacity and Piety and removing DET from fending/healing gear completely, that way, tanks/heals don't lose the benefit of DET (cuz they would just have the same in the form of tenacity/piety), but at the same time, I would keep the current bonuses that these stat provides or tweaking them a bit, so Tenacity should provide a tiny bit more of damage reduction, and Piety keeping the MP regen component.

Astro's kit gets less reliant on mana with every expansion, to the point where if I weren't spamming Malefic I'd be overcapping my mana bar every time I drew cards. If tanks do 80% of a DPS' damage and healers do 60% of a DPS' damage, then go ahead and make my relevant stat give me 60% of the damage buff your Direct Hit gives the DPS.

My calcs indicate that it's more like 70-80, at the cost of somewhere around 2.5k hp. So... half a percent-ish of DPS for about 1-2% of your HP. Since you rarely if ever live on 1-2% of HP in any practical situation, half a percent is half a percent.

It's really not. You sacrifice so little by shaving a few ilvls off, you can still get past all the ilvl gates, and living on such a tiny sliver of HP that the lost ilvls matter is so rare it might as well be irrelevant. Also, BiS is faster to acquire than max ilvl, too, because it incorporates lower-level gear that isn't time gated. So not only is it *better* it also is *cheaper* overall, in a game where gearing multiple jobs per expansion is already a big ask.

I wanna throw my idea in: Make it so Piety governs not only how much MP regenerates per tick, it also dictates how much HP/MP is restored upon a Raise action on a KO'd ally or self IN ADDITION to giving a rare chance to refunding the MP cost back per each healing spell. This would help progression and recovery outside of the optimized team spectrum while also giving a small helping hand to those still learning on the path towards becoming experts.

...You do realize that nobody casts healing spells if they can help it, right? It's not even because of the MP cost, it's because you sacrifice DPS and make the DPS checks tighter on everyone else as a result. Buffing raise HP/MP also isn't useful outside of prog... where Piety already has a small niche... because outside of prog people generally don't die to get rezzed.

@@kroporo3473 Right. If you want to fix Piety, you need to find something that healers care about in most cases, while also keeping that prog niche. I think the cost refund idea isn't bad, but putting it on just heals isn't terribly useful. Cheaper DPS could be interesting for spell speed users, and putting a lighter DPS buff on top, for cases where more mana isn't as useful.

"The gameplay loop is getting gear to do more damage" < Hey I found the real issue why do we have roles at all in a game that only cares about damage, why not let everyone have role actions they choose like the Varient dungeons that help push them towards tank or healer but beyond that just make everyone a dps the game clearly forgets there are two other roles and has forgotten since forever. Like the best content in this game for me personally is the ones where you can be like "fuck it take my warrior rez!" or "I'm a whm tank for the group now mwhahah!" The raid content is clearly designed in a way that makes one question why they didn't take the chance to axe the uneeded healer, tank, and dps trinity since all that really matters is how much dps you do lol. Making Piety deal damage though is a really neat suggestion since we know thats more likely to happen then the devs changing up the formula to their game.

Honestly I think you should be better at the game before making a video like this, yes, I've seen your parses, but while your damage is high... lmao what is the healer rotation even? Your healing is ass while your cohealer does all the heavy lifting. Anyone can do that. In real, non-structure content for parses, you're mid at best. Piety is a skill issue.

Because provided the healer does the work they need to, the actual healing quantity may be fine, an example is the people I play with have the Regen Healer do a bulk of the proper healing while the Shield Healer is there if A. There is a LOT of burst healing needed or B. The mit plan has the regen/shield healers alternate their cooldowns at certain points. But maybe the whole "They cleared the content so that's that" is just my take on things

This is a bad take. Don't gotta be god at healer with flawless healplan to recognize healers have been getting shafted. Besides, It doesn't seem like there was a serious attempt at optimizing anyways? I do think they're undervaluing piety, but they're not wrong. Once fights are figured out and the amount of healer gcds is optimized (especially in ult it seems), mp is hardly ever an issue. The downtime basically gives you all the time in the world to get mp back. I think the thing that raises my eyebrow is the implication that healers will deliberately prog FRU with 727 ilvl. That's crazy

@@SadTB2 The difference is literally 2468 HP. If you don't properly mitigate, 2k HP will not save you in prog, let's be real. If you do properly mitigate, then the 2.4k HP won't matter. Losing 4 item levels is not a lot, especially when those item levels are on pieces that don't provide a majority of your defensive stats anyway. (btw, if the 727 set bothers you, there's also a 728 set that uses augmented crafted gear that brings the 2.4k disparity down to 1.8k, without sacrificing a notable amount of DPS; the disparity for my race/clan + job between BiS and 728 is +600 HP for -4.5 dps) The only reason you give a damn about piety in prog is to give you room for GCD heals and rezzes, since all healers by default are slightly MP-positive with zero spell speed as far as I know otherwise. But harder content doesn't always give room for GCD heals or rezzes anyway. Hell, even the current EX3 has a phase where if someone dies, the party wipes... because there's just no real way to rez them to salvage the situation. And... um... the lost piety equates to essentially a HQ Super-Ether. That's it. Sure, it clashes with a Mind potion, but if you REALLY care about the rez or GCD heals that much, surely sacrificing your DPS potion for it is fine. And ultimately? It doesn't matter. People can prog and clear with 731, and people can probably prog and clear with 727 or 728. Or they can early prog on 731 and swap to 727/728 for clear attempts. It's such a small difference that it's really up to personal preference...

the most hilarious thing is that tanks got tenacity boosted in dawntrail release and as of last patch they got several skill upgrades (dem drk buffs) but healers? Succor and E.Prognosis cost 100 less mp, so piety is even more useless.
