I was gifted the Bluetooth AMP handles after purchasing the classic weighted ones 6 months ago. I was super disappointed when I found out that in order to even use the AMP handles, you must purchase a $12/mnth subscription. I found that incredibly greedy given that I’d already purchased $100+ classic ropes and my partner purchased these $100+ Bluetooth handles. When all is said and done, this would be a $280 purchase year one + an additional $80/yr subscription annually…hundreds of dollars over the life of the ropes. I would think that we’d at least be able to free jump and simply count on the app without buying a subscription. This isn’t made clear enough at the time of purchase but is written is small text on the side I the box…Make it EXPLICITLY clear that these handles WILL NOT WORK with a paid subscription. 🤢

I have a couple crossropes, and I just noticed they added this new product to their site. I was really interested until I found out the app is a paid service. After learning that my interest went to zero. What a greedy ripoff they couldn't just be satisfied to sell more expensive jump ropes. Imagine wanting to pay $100+ upfront then $10 per month for life to be able to use a device at all. Absurd and insulting, when I buy a heart rate monitor or some similar health/exercise tracking thing, the app is free otherwise the device is useless. My polar heart rate monitor being an example - I pay for the device and the app is free. There's absolutely no reason to buy the thing without access to the app. They could have at the very least had some app functionality for free, and just sold extra access to more special/advanced/customizable routines. But nope, literally every app feature is behind a paywall.

Thank you for mentioning the app is PAID and it costs 10$/month, and they just came out, and it's in addition to 200$ you pay for the AMP itself. And they can increase it any time that would render the AMP useless - you can't even connect it to the app to use the counter

How do I change the view on the app? Mine is all white where as yours appears black? In fact your app looks different I don’t have an activity button just ‘stats’ Tnx

Like most commenters here and seemingly on videos like these more broadly, the subscription thing is a real sticking point for me for a couple of reasons, neither of which are cost, not exactly… more a matter or principle, perhaps. First, I'm already in the Crossrope ecosystem, owning both slim and power handles as well as .25 through to 2lb ropes. So this monthly fee to in essence continue to do what I'm already doing - I take my ropes to the gym and make jumping a part of what I do there because I hate running, I have no space at home, and I live in England so 'outside' isn't often an option - doesn't sit well with me; it's basically doubling my annual membership expenditure, for stats and 2000+ workouts I won't ever use?! Second, it's the difference between functionality and service I take issue with, in that it doesn't seem as though Crossrope does anything with the data accrued by the app, it's all 'on-device'. So if no _actual_ provision of service occurs, being held to effective ransom simply to keep a section of their app unlocked is unsavoury to me, particularly if the app's premium rate is the same whether you need/use AMP functions or not (I don't know that bit for sure, but it sure looks that way). Selling higher-priced handles that are identical in their usage to all the others until you pay _yet more money_ almost feels like some gangsta shit, to be honest! 😅 I understand the price of something is more about how much value one finds in the item than the number figure attached to it. And I'd happily buy those AMP handles, pricey as they are, 'cos I also have those days when 20 mins is hard as hell but the day before was easier, and I find metrics insightful; it's why I also have an Apple Watch… but shelling out that cash to be no better served by the technology I've paid for is unfathomable. Thanks to whomever read this, as I have no idea why I chose to share. 😃

I chose to read this, so thank you man. Also in England bro, and the app subscription is an absolute liberty tbh. Crossrope are amazing for quality, durability etc, but for me the whole point of the ropes are to alleviate the costs of a gym membership. The ropes, handles and mat are already expensive enough. They've missed a massive trick by not including at least a 1year subscription (it should be lifetime) when you buy the handles; they'd make so much more money. I've never bought the app before also out of principle - it really should be free given what we spend otherwise.

Appreciate it. To me, even were the app not to be free, a one-off payment would be much more acceptable/easy to reconcile. Crossrope clearly know they’re premium priced, so it reeks of presumption that their users will always have yet more money to send their way! I don’t wanna hear about how the app costs money to maintain either: task the devs with adding more tiered functionality so those paying get only what they specifically want! ‘Take it or leave it’ is a truly bizarre business model. 😵‍💫

Other health tracking devices I think always have free apps, for example heart rate monitors do it this way. It's actually insulting the device is a worthless brick without paying them $10 a month forever.

Can multiple people say my kids and myself track separately on the subscription app?
@fullfilledlife2911
@fullfilledlife2911 Жыл бұрын
from what I can tell, no. There is only one login and one profile associated with each account, so you can allocate different workouts to different people. Not yet at least. To do this I think everyone would need to have the app paid for separately on their own device. Not ideal

Great review! I agree it's a huge sticky shock. I just started jumping and was looking for a rope that would connect to my Apple Watch or iPhone to count jumps and to keep track of my exercises. I didn't realized you had to pay a monthly subscription as well which is really upsetting as I was considering it until this:( One question I did have though about the app is how accurate is the jump count? thanks!

thanks for checking out the video. although the app is a frustrating expense, it is actually incredibly accurate. every time I counted along with my skips the app was tracking dead accurate. Impressive tech, but silly price!

I love the concept of amp but man that app paid subscription is a deal breaker. I love their product but this isn’t it. Also you do get used to 1lb, I used it a lot and it becomes like a non weight jump rope.

The AMP handles worth it only if you want to use them as the replacement or to have two pair of handles and not change everytime the rope between sets . Otherwise the handles does not worth it as you need paid subscription to use them. So a big dislike for crossrope!!!!!!

Thanks for the review and unboxing! Did you consider the 2S pro as well? And if so, why did you pick the 3 instead? I'm currently debating between the two (especially since the sale makes the 3 only $30 more than the 2S Pro), so any tips are appreciated! :)

I second this. I can't find a good comparison between the 2s and the 3 , but it looks like the 3 has a tiny bit less range and they're the same speed . So why is this one more
@fullfilledlife2911
@fullfilledlife2911 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I did consider the 2S Pro as well, but went with the 3 mainly because of the deck. The 2S Pro appears to have a much more stiff deck, which translates to more foot vibration on longer rides. This is partially speculation (I've never riden the 2S), but that's what it looked like in most of the reviews I saw online. Overall they are very similar boards though.

Just got mine too (Black Friday deal). Had to tighten up the trucks but I think I got the right levels now. I ended up putting that tiny light on the back of my triple 8 helmet using 2 rubber bands. I longboarded throughout college and for a few years after... this is now 20 years later. Found that my sweet spot is around 11 - 15mph for cruising. I love the carves on this thing, exactly what I was looking for as it's very similar to the carviness of my college board. Overall stoked w/ the board. Now I'm looking for a good tail guard to protect it as I lean the board on it's tail all the time.
